Probably one of my favourite musicians/songwriters.
The obits are focusing on his work with The Waterboys around Whole of the Moon time and before.
I loved World Party - I have almost all of the music.
Never managed to see him live but I thought I should chime in here to say that I’m gutted that I won’t be able to see him live in the future.

Oh wow. Put the Message in the Box is a song that I've played literally hundreds of times at gigs. May he R.I.P.

Another I have never heard of. RIP I would strongly encourage you to check him out. World Party is the vehicle. I wasn’t joking when I said that he was one of my favourite songwriters/musicians. Ignorance isn’t bliss. Guardian

We saw Karl and an iteration of World Party at the Birchmere in Va 4 years ago. They were terrific, although Karl stopped more than one tune to ensure they were being played as he wanted to hear them. When my BIL sent me a message the other day about Karl, my first thought was he was touring again! Not to be (:^(> RIP Karl

I've not paid attention to the RIP thinking it was an unknown to me. Listened to "Put The Message in The Box" and did an "oh, yeah". Kind of pop that resonates with me and brought me back to that era. I think I was listening to a lot of Blue Rodeo at that time, same kind of predictable yet comfortable structure.
