BIL (Glenn) just drove away with it on a trailer. A project I had always thought I'd complete myself, but 25 years as it's care-taker didn't get me there. For Glenn it will be a "check-book" project. Glenn will get it done. A bit sad to see it go, but it was Queenie's truck and she decided to sell it to Glenn. The good part is Queenie (and I as well) will now get to see it completed. That is a happy thing.

That is a happy thing. I know what it’s like to part with an old friend. I owned my ‘66 Corvette for 53 years and my ‘56 Harley Hydra-Glide for 37 years, and for the last ten I would drive them to a car or bike show and I’d get another trophy to try to find a place for in the family room. Then it was park ‘em back in the garage and hook up the battery tenders. It was hard to send them down the road, but after two years I really don’t seem to miss them much and the guys that bought them really enjoy them. We don’t really own those vehicles, we’re just the caretaker for a bit until they are passed along to the next enthusiast.

I inherited a 72 Ford F100 from my grandfather that I grew up in. Over the years it needed so much body work that I knew I couldn’t manage any time soon, so I sold it. When it drove away I shed some tears. It was like a piece of my grandfather leaving.

I inherited my grandma's 66 Buick Skylark convertible back in the mid-90's. At the time I didn't have the funds to make it reliable....I had a few summers where I could drive around town, but could never trust it to do more than a quick run for ice cream or something. Even if I'd had the money to fix it up, it had little value as a V6 from the muscle car era. The only way I would have done a full restore was if I turned it into a GS clone, but that would have been a $25k project at least.
I stored it some years at my dad's (he had climate controlled car storage), but some years it wasn't running right or I couldn't find a window of time to get it up there. It would take up half my garage and I was parking my daily driver outside.
Eventually it went out to my wife's family's barn, where it sat and got infested with mice and basically went to hell. I was sad to sell it, but also relieved.
Now I have my dad's '01 BMW Z3. I have a 3 stall garage that's heated, so it's babied. It had 4700 miles on it when I got it and has less that 8000 now. When I had new tires put on last summer, the manager of the shop said "bring it back in to re-torque the lug nuts after 200 miles...so that'll be when...next summer?" I actually drive it quite a bit, but just locally. I have zero plans to get rid of it. It's in like-new condition (freshy paint corrected and ceramic coated) and we enjoy it.
I'm hoping to give it to my son someday when he has room for it.

I have a few more to send “down the road” but this one, a ‘78 Cadillac Eldorado, will be hard to part with because my mother purchased it when new and she passed away a couple of years ago just shy of her 102nd birthday. I think the last time I drove it was when I sold my Vette and I brought the Eldo home to replace it in the garage.

I get the itch for another car too mess around with occassionally, but then I keep changing my mind, Buick 1987 GN, 1989 Turbo Trans Am, Mitisu 3000 GT VR4....hell, the list could get endless, but too much money, to little use out of it, I think a Caddy CTS V with a tune and such might be the best option.

Go Corvette! I have (almost) 60 years behind the wheel of a Corvette and have loved every minute spent there. This is the current one in the garage.
