hope you have uninsured/under insured coverage We do not purchase insurance in order to meet the law. We purchase insurance to have coverage.

Larry I hope that you have Uninsured motorist coverage. If so then you do not need to worry, regardless of her PD your collision coverage should cover this. I would not trust her coverage to be sufficient, but then again you may be surprised.

I would not trust her coverage to be sufficient, but then again you may be surprised. As noted, I anticipate she does not have sufficient policy limits to cover the damages. We have opened claims with both her insurance and our insurance. We are covered one way or the other. It will most likely be our insurance making us whole and then a subrogation process between insurance carriers. Edited to add: I confirmed with our agent (of over 30 years) that this being handled through our insurance would not impact our rate going forward. He confirmed that to be the case.

glad you and the missus are OK. My niece and her one and three year old were t boned a few weeks ago in a fairly new Toyota Rav 4. every one was OK, the child seats did their jobs. Car was totaled. They were able to buy a newer used Rav 4 without much additional dollar outlay. In NJ we are required to carry insurance against getting hit by under or non insured drivers.

Queenie looked at Kelly BlueBook.
It appears high retail on our 2023 CR-V is pretty much the same as a new 2024.
$32,000.00 to 35,000.00ish
Surprising indeed.

Well, hopefully we get some definitive info on Queenie's car soon. Queenie is feeling better every day. It was the seatbelt that gave her the biggest painful issues across her chest. My head (foggy sensation) is clearing up and the headache clearing up. The sharper head pain is gone now mostly dull headache at times. Neck stiffness about gone and the arm is looking better. We are still well aware of how much worse this could have turned out for us. Hematoma lump elbow by Larry Madsen, on Flickr Bruising, still painful in the arm, but it is looking better. Glad you are both on the mend. We got hit once and the guy tore us up. He walked away. Took me year of surgery and therapy to walk. Prolly wise to continue to monitor your wellness.

She showed a Nevada ID card, not a driver license. ^ Makes me suspect she didn't have a license.

Sounds like she was cited for that. Got that info from her insurance company, probably stopped there not wanting to make any admission of running the red light. Also were told they (at fault) have insufficient coverage limits, so we will be going through our own insurance. Still waiting on our insurance to evaluate the Honda.

Prolly wise to continue to monitor your wellness. Yes indeed. I am still feeling the effects of the blow to the head. Just a dull heaviness/low grade headache. Sometimes more noticeable than at other times. Your ordeal obviously much worse than ours on the injury front.

Given the extensive damage, I'm not sure I would be happy with a repair. In any case, this is likely to show up in a Carfax as more than minor damage, so I would investigate if it's also possible to be compensated for diminished value as part of the insurance process if not totaled.

Not sure how quickly the insurance company will evaluate the damage. I just called our agent. I'm wondering if we would make things easier or more difficult by paying the final $607.00 off. Under normal circumstances that final payment would have been made last Thursday morning. It would cut the lien holder out of the picture. However, with the process moving along we might put the title in a bit of limbo by paying it off, regarding lien holder status. My initial position was to leave it be and not put something else in motion as this plays out.

Sorry this happened to you Larry! In 2012 I was T-Boned on the drivers side in a company Ford F-150. It spun me around. It took me many months to get over the fear of being T-Boned again. Hope all works out for you in getting your CRV repaired.

Hope all works out for you in getting your CRV repaired. Personally, I don't have much fear of being T-Boned, if I am driving. many years ago I was quite friendly with our mail man. He was a guitar player and we had some other interests in common, plus he brought our mail for a very long time. He told me that during the post office "driver training" one thing they engrained into their heads is this: Never be the first car to enter an intersection ... and for this very (T-Bone) reason. I took that to heart and if I am at the front of the line I will hold back until the car next to me has moved forward. If I "have" to be the first car out, this lesson ensures I carefully verify cross traffic before I move forward. It has kept me out of a few instances where I probably would have been in, or come very close to, a crash. Edited to add: It's a bit late, but after this incident I did pass that little lesson along to Queenie.

My wife always slows down at an intersection even if the light is green. Use to bug me as the light sometimes changed and we had to miss it. I don’t say anything now as I see it as good driving habits.

Our insurance has deemed Queenie’s Honda to be a total loss.
Queenie is happy to be getting a new car.
We went to our Honda dealer this afternoon to get an idea of what is available, what they cost, how to handle the extended warranty/service policy, see colors, etc.
Should know more by the first of next week.

Settled on the total loss this morning. Looks like Queenie will have $36,000.00 to start her hunt for a new CR-V. We feel like that is fair enough. We paid the final payment on the 2nd, loan closed out on the 4th ... then 10 days wait to get the title. Next week will hopefully put a new 2024 in the garage. Now we see what we can do for medical. We have not enlisted an attorney and don't want to. Queenie was back to see the doctor yesterday for some follow-up. I am certainly not 100% back to normal yet after 2 weeks.

My wife and I went through that as well. We got flipped over but luckily this happened across from a fire station and got immediate assistance. The guy who had run the red against us had multiple MVAs and no insurance. Other than a little soreness I was fine. My wife had a few bruises but later would suffer from chronic back and shoulder pain exacerbated by the T-bone. She’s gone through a couple corrective surgeries as a result. As others have mentioned, please monitor yourselves for any residual pain that shows up later. Take care.

Title arrived yesterday and Queenie traded it for a check this morning. 🙂
CU has a 3 day hold on 30k of the funds, so no car shopping until after Wednesday of the coming week. 🫤
It’s progress. 👍🏻
