"Privately owned train company Brightline will break ground next week on a $12 billion high-speed rail project connecting Las Vegas and Southern California.
Electric trains will depart every 45 minutes from a Las Vegas station south of the city’s storied Strip and a Southern California station in Rancho Cucamonga, a Los Angeles suburb about 40 miles east of downtown."
More efficient: Just mail a check made out to "Las Vegas Casinos". There. You've lost the same amount of money without shouldering your way through crowds in Vegas.
Alternative: Once this "bullet train" is up and running, the company can install slot machines, blackjack tables and roulette wheels on board. By the time you reach Vegas, you're broke. Just remain seated for the return trip to So Cal.

Well, maybe a private company will build more efficiently than the California High Speed Rail Authority. Otherwise, there's little danger that that rail line will ever be completed...certainly not on budget.
If the CHSRA gets involved, it'll wind up being grossly over-budget and will terminate someplace out in the Mojave, short of the Nevada border...in 2050.

Be thankful. It doesn't appear to involve any public funds ... yet.

I stopped in Vegas once for gas on my way to Moab and kept going as soon as I'd finished filling up.
Only time I've ever been there.

Las Vegas isn’t for everyone. 😎
This rail concept has been around for decades and never managed to become a reality.
Somehow a high speed train to Rancho Cucamonga seems pretty curious to those of us living in Las Vegas. 🤔

What we voted for....high speed rail from Los Angeles to San Francisco
What we will get .... standard speed train from Bakersfield to Merced

The good news is the LA to Vegas train will be running in 2028. The better news is there is high demand for that route...just watch I-15 traffic. Who wants to sit in that parking lot for 4 hours or more during a traffic accident? Best news is that based on Orlando to Miami tickets are reasonably priced (Brightline built the Orlando/Miami line).
I have a lot of friends that fly or drive to Vegas to see Raiders games, a few go there to support the Golden Knights. I suspect there will be some that will go there for the A's home games. And then there are the casinos.
