I'm having trouble finding the answer to this in every Fender history site I can find. Where the pickups in the early Strats, up to about 79 or 80 the same ohm reading for all 3? Meaning that they didn't designate Bridge, Middle and Neck on the vintage ones?
Confession time: I have a 75 strat that has been in pieces since 1985, started feeling guilty about it and started putting it back together. Now the good part
One pickup is missing and another is dead, it appears quite a few of the windings are shredded. I'm not going to ever sell this I want it back to as original as possible just to alleviate my guilt and to reunite with the guitar I made a living with so many years ago.
Maybe one of you have a recommendation for a set of vintage reissue pups that would be close to the sound?
Thanks for listening

Argo, you might want to post this in the instrument workshop section. You will get an answer there for sure.

You might want to call Lindy Fralin. In the past I found him accessible and I believe he rewinds pups still. Send him what you got, he could fix and probably conjure up a matching one as well.

Thanks for moving this Leftee, it does fit better here. I think I talked myself into the easy way out with some re-issues, Fender makes a set called Fender Original 57/62 that sound real nice in the video and the price is too good to pass up. Or be true, I'll find out.
Thanks for the Lindy Fralin advice Mr. Kiltre I will explore that just for knowledge sake.

I just ordered Fralin Pure PAF Humbuckers for my Gibson. If I had a Strat, the Fender Original 57/62's would be the ones to get. Very nicely priced too. That is the clean vintage tone I love! Hope they work well for you. They sure do sound good

I'll also recommend Lindy Fralin. Even tho I'm fine at rewinding, I still send all of my clients to Lindy. He's been great every time for exactly the type of thing you describe.

Thanks for the testimonial Goodyear57, They must be popular, Sweetwater says the are back ordered and will take at least 2 weeks. I hope they are not coming from China! I should check that out.

Up until the early 70s there was little attention paid to the pickups' relative power and their positions in the guitar. This was true for Fender as well as Gibson. It's common to work on all-original Fenders and Gibsons from that era and discover the neck pickup Ohms out to a higher rating.
When Larry Dimarzio, Bill Lawrence, and Seymour Duncan really got the custom-pickup business going, that's when players and makers started thinking about balancing the relative powers of the pickups in a guitar.

Mid 70s Strat pickups with the flat poles are not sought after or highly regarded. Fender switched to those (from the very good grey bottom staggered poles) in the earlier 70s. Your choice of the 57-62s is a good one for what many regard as a very vintage "strat" sounding pickup. The 3 positions and the in-betweens are great on the 57-62s, and the price is very reasonable. Good choice.

It arrived a few days ago and just installed it today. For an extra $100 I got it prewired, which included the pickguard, 3 pots a 5 way switch and professional wiring! what more could a boy ask for? OH and it sounds wonderful, No hum or buzzes just pure Vintage Fender Twang.

I have yet to encounter anyone dissatisfied with these sets sold by Fender. I did once receive a set of bass pickups with a dead one but customer service made it right quite quickly.

Old baby boomer here, owned and played soooo many strats/pups and stoped looking after I tried Toneriders. They offer different models all affordable. These are the vintage.
