I only noticed it wasn't working after I switched out V1 with different 12AX7 I had laying around. It was a used Electro Harmonix. I thought it sounded slightly quieter than the stock Groove Tube (slightly less background hiss). Any chance a tube swat would cause the bright switch to stop working??? (I wouldn't think so)

Ok, this is likely the wrong place and should be under amp workshop. However, I just swapped the original tube back into V1 and of course it made no difference. Bright switch is still dead. I may try to operate tomorrow. Not that I ever used the bright switch, but if it's there I want it to work.

You can easily test the bright switch with a meter to see if it has failed.
Remember that opening up an amp chassis can expose you to a lethal jolt, even when the amp is unplugged. Discharge the filter caps before you do anything else.
