I listened to this last night. I know it has 6 cover songs, but I think it is somewhat underrated. "No Reply", "I'm A Loser", "Baby's in Black" and "Eight Days A Week" are some excellent songs.
I also like the album cover photo. You can see that being loveable mop tops is beginning to take it's toll.

I listened to it for the first time start to finish a couple of weeks ago. There were quite a few songs I'd never heard before. Not my favourite Beatles album by a long way, but some good songs on it nevertheless.

It's often considered one of their weakest albums. I say: Drop the two Carl Perkins covers (yeah, no Ringo, no George. Oh well - I think they're pretty weak songs. And I like CP); Add "Leave My Kitten Alone", "She's a Woman" and "I Feel Fine" from the same sessions; And you've got a really good record.

Get rid of "Mr. Moonlight".

But, back in the day, they quite often released the singles separately, and left them off the album for some reason.

I had that album back in the day, and liked it. True, not their best, but still very good, IMHO.
I always liked George’s twangy guitar work on certain songs. To me, “I’m a Loser” by itself made the album worthwhile.
Mr. Moonlight was my least favorite cut.

Actually, you would have something closer to Beatles '65, the American release which has what I consider a superior lineup to Beatles For Sale. For those who might not know, '65 was what was released in the US when For Sale was released in the UK.
