1) Effective immediately, we’ll have no further discussion of the medicine, science or government aspects of the virus. The official thread has been locked.
2) Feel free to post your personal experiences with the virus, quarantine, or other related issues. Adding the word “personally” to otherwise objectionable posts will not fly. The present situation has affected all of our lives, it’s fine to talk about what you’re doing in quarantine, changes in your diet, all of those things that are outside of the “official” thread.
3) We will no longer be discussing whether or not you personally believe that the current restrictions and requirements are necessary. Everyone is free to have an opinion, but it’s a polarizing issue which also makes it “hot button”, so we’re no longer allowing it.
4) ProBoards terms of service prohibit inaccurate information or misinformation about COVID-19. Any posts determined to be such will be removed.
Let’s try to get back on track and discuss something else at this point.

I am ok with links to news outlets, everyone has ones they trust and ones they don’t. The reader, once provided with the source material, can make their own assessment as to whether or not they believe it. We’re all adults here and should have realized by this point in our lives that “you can’t always believe what you read”. Rather than limit things to particular sources (I bet there are those among us who don’t trust government statistics), just post the source and the reader can decide what weight to give it.
Making a statement like “no media outlets are giving us accurate statistics” is a good example of something that falls into the misinformation category. There’s no way that you have a factual basis to say that, since I bet you don’t real the entirety of the media, and I have personally seen reports of stats from government agencies that you cited as reliable.

At this point, due to it being politicised, I take it all with a grain of salt.

Of course. And a reminder, politics are still not permitted. That includes opinions as to whether any given politician is doing a good or bad job.

Perhaps I misjudged the situation, nobody has posted in the new thread in over 2 hours.

Perhaps I misjudged the situation, nobody has posted in the new thread in over 2 hours. There is probably a certain amount of mental and emotional *burn-out* on the topic in general. That's why I hope to limit serious virus discussion to this page. I think some people want to discuss it, and others want to discuss anything else.

That's why I hope to limit serious virus discussion to this page. I think some people want to discuss it, and others want to discuss anything else. I mentioned this to my wife - those who want to discuss it and those who want to escape it. She's in the escape crowd and just wants to see funny cat videos on fb. But we are a community going back over 20 years and I like the option to do both. Trying to limit it to one, well-moderated thread is worth trying. What’s the population of your county?

Opinions on whether or not certain restrictions are necessary or not, or effective or not, are not allowed. This is designated a "hot button" topic due to the current situation.
Eg.: "Will the handshake be replaced" is ok. "The handshake should be replaced because we'll all get COVID-19 and die" is not.
If we cannot stick to the rules, I will have to expand the prohibition to include all COVID-19 related topics like some other forums have, which in my opinion, makes the site less enjoyable because we can't discuss our lives.
Thank you.

It’s all pretty normal here in Horse/Farm country. I see my neighbors about as much as usual. My buddy down the road has even had a few get togethers. Neighbors who I’ve only waved at coming and going, I’ve had an opportunity to spend more time with. One pulled out his mid 70s Gibson Hummingbird, hearing that I’m a musician, that guitar has some serious tone. I was returning some repaired horse tack, I didn’t accept his payment. I may not know a dang thing about horses but these people sure love my leather work. It’s different going into the towns. The two counties that I’m in and out off have low percentage of test positives. The one county is about three times higher than the other due to more nursing homes. The few times I’ve gone into town, other than the masks, seems fairly normal, maybe a little more crowed than usual. Some shelves are still bare, I’m starting to think it’s more of a distribution problem. I’ve been using the old treadle machines to sew up masks, I really suck at sewing these but they have that authentic “A” for effort look “o) and work, have a pocket for a filter, and have less open to atmosphere space than most I’ve seen. I give them away, like the ladies at the fabric/guilting shop. I carry three or four with me and pass them out to those unprotected if they care to take one. Hum, I think I’ll pull out the box of scraps and make a quilted one. A friend is coming over tonight to work on some Steven Foster stuff. I need to practice for that, common chords but unusual changes. My house guest is busy making and beading bags for the Pow Wow events she attends. Amazing work, I’ve been fabricating hand cut ornaments for these using traditional symbolic images then cutting them out of sheet copper, she is making one for me that is turning out really nice, it’s a dark red wool so copper would not be enough of a contrast, I’ll pull out the sterling silver sheet and wire for it. I guess she gets $500 and up for these, or the retail seller does. I’m really glad I retired, driving into Miami to work at Jackson Memorial Hospital repairing and maintaining Respiratory equipment, mostly ventilators, would be really risky. 30 years of wrenching life support equipment was enough. A for effort
