For sure! Thanks for starting this! Very unusual to not be able to go to the FDP! I did not post much there, but I was there every day!

I think I'm going to have to post in every new forum just because they need some stuff in them at this point.

Everything looks great!
I've been part of several different forums during a "format transition" (although this is more than that obviously) and while it takes a little getting used to, usually after a while if the general vibe is the same you hardly notice it.

"At least the pretzels are stale, just like I like 'em..." Yeah... about that. They aren't stale. I saw the giraffe licking all of the salt off of them...

Me too, hush. In a week, the FDP will be forgotten. Frankly, I like that this will not be a Fender specific board even though many members will come over from the old place.
However, as at the FDP, the lifeblood of a forum is not only new members but new topics AND participation in them by the members.

Yeah, I’ve got to try a bit harder at that. Never was great at initiating threads.
I got used to the blank stares and mouths hanging open when I initiated conversations through out my life. Though I acknowledge that we are not exactly those people and do have a wide base of interests. My spelling and grammar have also been a weak spot for me. In the early days of the Internet forums I was forced to use MS Word to correct everything, the spell check made these forums possible for me, otherwise I’d be considered and idiot. Which I am not. I’ve actually tested rather high on the IQ thing but most of my thinking is based on concepts and physics not actual words per-say. I can read as easily mirror backwards as I can a traditional printed page. Dad could scan a newspaper as fast as turning the page then spend the rest of the day reading it in his head. No wonder he wound up a Col in the O,S,I, director of counter espionage in the 1960s Europe.
I’ve gotten better, proof reading takes three times what it takes me to initially type out my thoughts, just to clean it up, The two long missing brother grammar Nazis used to ream me constantly. They were easy targets though ”o)

Chris, it was the Fender specific aspect that brought me there , but I can see how it also made it hard to expand . Since I’ve been playing , my gear choices expanded as well. I also noticed the other forums got a lot less traffic . I think having an electric guitar and amp non specific will allow people to keep conversation flowing about all things guitar . The Gretsch subforum was a quiet place sometimes. Combining the guitar/ amp and effects subforum was a good idea too.

I think I may have posted at the old place that so many of those forums were due to FMIC requesting them. They were our first sponsor and we had some challenges making them understand it wasn't *their* forum. Still, IIRC, it was Fliegler that asked for so many of the forums we had there. Because of the crap software we hung on to, consolidating the forums was too big a PITA so we ended up with way too many separate, narrow focus forums. I think Mike's intention here is to keep it a bit more simple.

"In a week, the FDP will be forgotten".
After 20+ years? I think NOT !! The FDP experience is part of Moe's 2.0 DNA.
