... but here it goes. I just filed and paid my taxes. The past few years have been odd... after a few big expenses it has been hard gaining the liquidity to stay ahead of the curve, so it is always a scramble to pay on time. The postponement for three months worked out really well for me.

In a white hot blaze of pre-dementia, I mailed off my check to the US Treasury in March, leaving out a couple of items. It came back last month, stamped "non-negotiable," accompanied by a polite letter explaining that they are not allowed to fill in the dollar amount on signed checks they receive.

Yup. I sent my returns in early this year, too...even with the advertised July date already posted. My feeling was that too much other stuff could go wrong (the way this year is unfolding) and things would really get gummed up. Plus I was feeling sorry for the gov't; knowing they were getting ready to send folks lots of money--that they didn't have--I thought I'd at least help them out a little. LOL...
Corny...I know. But, hey...just trying to support the republic. It's July 4th!!

Add to it health insurance premiums and deductibles, though. And for some, student loan payments.

I’m gonna owe the gov a $h-ton of money July 15.. income tax since I made more last year as well as quarterly payments. So like 3/4 a yr of taxes (1099 so no withholding)
Worth it since all the extra went in equities back in April.
Thanks for the interest free loan of my own money, fed.
