Question about the Fender tapered bass tuners (Am. deluxe). Most of my spearience is with the vintage bass tuners, larger diameter no taper where I could measure 4" past tuner and be about correct with length of string. Stick string in hole and go. With the Am. deluxe am I better to tie them on guitar style or trial and error it after I leave them a bit long then fine tune. Thank You.
I just picked up a 50th Ann. P and Wha-La previous owner relaxed the tune for shipment. As I pulled her up to pitch the D popped. La Bella's on the way. String through flats, measurements taken per instructions.

Not rubber band tension but lower than most others. Noticeably more tension than TI Jazz Flats that I also like

I had been using Fender S.S. flats on my P's. They certainly are similar in sound the feel is way more polished. They tuned up quickly and I give them the big thumbs up. Easily worth the price for exceptional quality.

Fender Flats were too stiff for my taste. I've settled on TI Jazz Flats, which were very low tension. It definitely took awhile before my playing adjusted, but I just love the tone.

Yes, Fender Flats are way too stiff! I like the tone and feel of the TI Jazz Flats also. The LaBella Low Tension Flats get a big nod from me also. They are easier to do some things than TI's. For me I believe I have found my two strings. And a good thing too because it was getting expensive going through different strings years ago. TI's will give many "sticker shock" until they come to the realization they last 3-6 years, maybe more if cared for and kept clean.

The LaBella Low Tension Flats get a big nod from me also I may have to give those a try if/when I buy another bass. $65 a shot is expensive for TIs, but worth it. Looking at an Epi Thunderbird for a good price. The LaBellas might be just the ticket. Why don't I stay out of Craigs List?

Why don't I stay out of Craigs List? I don't venture onto Craigslist anymore but for different reasons.
