I know! I can get it over cable but I only have an OTA antenna.
It seems to me that MLB would look like a winner by letting all fans watch the local game.

How can they have a blackout rule when they are not selling tickets? I don't get that one. I think the blackout rules are primarily about television rights, aren’t they? That’s why when the Mets play the Braves, it’s blacked out on TBS here. The Mets network gets the exclusive.

Correct! The irony is that the rules are supposed to increase attendance at home games. So now the fan just can't see the game and the Pirates don't have many to lose.

I don’t see how that’s possible. The local games are always on TV. Where we run into issues here is when there are two competing networks that would be showing the same game. The Mets always air every game. TBS blocks out games involving the Braves, either in Atlanta (where blackouts in New York are not going to affect who is going to the game) or in NY (where the Mets are already airing it).

now 12 players and coaches for the Marlins have tested positive so their game w/the Orioles tonight is cancelled. and since they played the Phillies yesterday their game w/the Yankess is cancelled. can the entire season which is only a few days old be far behind? (Just guessing) but these players must be tested every couple of days. With everyone “contained”, how are a dozen or more players testing positive?

Watching the Dodgers game was a hoot. They have celebrity cutouts and a wire with a lever making them movable and they would show them doing the wave.

I could easily be confusing the sports involved, but I remember local blackout rules for games that were not sold out. It does seem silly to not televise a game when fans aren’t allowed to attend. It seems the team would do everything possible for their fan base, but there’s probably money involved...

Neither team sells out every game, and the Devils rarely sell out. I have never not been able to watch them on some broadcast, whether it’s their own network or a national broadcast. For those teams, then, it can’t be related to selling out. If it’s a different rule for football, which probably does sell out most games, or basketball, I am unaware because I watch neither.

I was looking forward to Yankees-Phillies.... but cancelled!
Regarding the cut-outs, I thought I saw a cut-out of the guy with the radar gun that normally sits behind Dodgers Home plate. White suit, white hat.

So whatcha think? Are they going to be able to finish the season?
I have my doubts. Of course the Pirates are the worst team in both leagues.
