So much would be dependent on what sort of advice was being solicited and the character of the young person. It could range from "don't be such a dumba**" to something drawn from life experience. I think my signature line reflects my current observations about many younger people today.
In an attempt to reinvent yourself or establish individuality, do not dismiss the tried and true.

I have a couple of suggestions:
* When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
* If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.
* It's hard to change directions when you're standing still.

Success doesn't find you, you find success. From the time you're born, it cost money to sustain you. If you're looking for free stuff to make ends meet, you're gonna die. Throw away the 'safe space' rug and man up.

The thing that changed my life was the words from a station owner speaking at a banquet which in essence was that for any creative endeavor money is the easiest and most readily available thing to get. Talent and effort are what make the difference. That got me started hitting up grants for productions, which proved to be pretty easy to get regardless of how strapped entities claimed to be.
Moral: they won’t give you anything you don’t ask for.

My Dad told me this...no lie.
“Nobody likes a smart ass, Jim.“
I have not always been successful following his advice.

Choose your friends wisely and don't hang around with losers. Don't fall in love with every girl you see. Take care of your body just in case you live to be 80. Start saving for your retirement now. Those are very wise words that Would have have helped had i heeded some of them years ago

Don't let fear of failing keep you from ever trying to accomplish something in the first place.
Each failure can teach you a valuable lesson, even if it's only, "well...I sure ain't doin' it that way again!"

If the girl of your dreams won't agree to marry you, just keep her duct taped to that chair until she changes her mind.
Never try getting past a toll booth using rolls of pennies.
You don't own your home. The plumber does. Own a plumber.
Never drink buttermilk cider. It ain't milk and it sure ain't cider.

When you hear old people saying "growing old ain't for sissies" they really aren't joking. Start practicing not being a sissy now.

Your comment is utterly uncalled for, outrageous and inappropriate!
The one about buttermilk, I mean...

Be kind. Be responsible. Be respectful. But don't buy into the idea that you have to have certain things accomplished by a certain age. Screw that. If you want to go to school when you're 60 to get a degree, do it. Don't buy a house because you're "supposed" to have one. Don't buy a car because you're "supposed" to have one. Don't stop doing the things you enjoy because you're "supposed" to grow out of it. And the term "act your age" is more often that not complete crap, usually said by people who regret giving up the things they enjoyed because the were "supposed" to.
Oh, and never get married.

1:Any kind of job is honorable work. 2:Never buy cheap tools. 3: It's not about how much money you make, it's about what you do with it. 4: Life goes by quickly, you should spend as much time as possible on the internet arguing with strangers about politics and religion.
