I absolutely love a goldtop and my biggest “lost guitar” regret was a Les Paul Classic 1960 RI Goldtop.

If they come stock with Lollars, it's a win-win.

Love the gold. Had a '69 and sold it. Now have a 60s Tribute LP in gold, and a goldtop Strat!

I had a Historic Goldtop, never bonded with it, sold it for a bit more than what I paid.

I like the idea of the gold top. I always pick another finish. My favorite is lemonburst.

It’s unlikely I’ll seek an Eastman for more than I pay for it, even though it will be a helluva deal for me.
Lots of great things about Eastman including the Lollars. I doesn’t say “Gibson” on the headstock, but the dogs that tolerate my playing in the basement can’t read.
It’s a classic look

I never cared too much for the Gold Top, until I found out about the elusive "dark back" version. Then I couldn't NOT want one! i.ibb.co/QbyM7X4/goldtop-1.jpg

I've always really wanted a Goldtop... years ago I was in Nashville and played a very nice R7 at Valley Arts Guitars... I knew if I spent the $2,400, my wife would kill me...but I've always regretted not taking that chance!

I had a lovely LP Gold Top Standard. Of the Les Paul's I've bought and sold through the years, that one is my biggest regret. For me, Les Paul's only became desirable to me when I improved my playing skills. My sole remaining LP, a Historic flame-top R0, is here to stay. I plan on adding a historic Gold Top when the time is right.

P90's baby!
My Goldtop is sitting on the stand upstairs, plugged in and ready to go.

Well the first lefty Eastman arrived at my dealer too damaged to even contemplate a repair, as if Pete Townsend circa 1968 had done the final QC at the end of a gig.
These are rare because Covid, China, supply chain.
He found another in Nashville and worked a swap to get it. I should see it this week.

vintage-wise...Goldtop with P90s and the patina/checking the gold paint brought...perfect. I have recents, one with a bigsby and a chambered tribute...cool guitars

FYI, Steve. I bought an Eastman goldtop (with P90s) a few months ago. Outstanding guitar. Not cheap, but still massive bang for the buck. A friend of mine bought an Eastman thinline hollowbody shortly after my purchase. He loved it... and promptly bought an Eastman acoustic to keep it company. Great guitars.

I have a 60's Gold Top Re-issue that has become my main player. I did a number of mods to it right after I got it that has made it infinitely better than it was when it came from Gibson. Different nut, ABR-1 bridge, featherweight tailpiece, and I shielded all of the routed cavities and covers to get rid of a really annoying and very audible static problem it had. I also added a pick guard but that was done to hide a spot where I wore through the finish where the ring finger of my picking hand rested. I shielded and grounded the pick guard as well. It has the matte finish and it is really getting worn where my forearm rests on the front. Not very resilient. I think the pots are really cheap and I will be replacing them at some point. The volume pots are both getting noisy from about the 2 to 0 setting when I move them quickly. I have cleaned and lubricated them with Deoxit a few times and it doesn't take very long before they are noisy again.
Other than that, I love the pickups and the neck. It's one of two guitars I keep out on stands all the time. The other is my 62 SG Custom. I play the Les Paul more though. I like the hotter pickups mostly. Great sound and the neck is very stable. It is rock-solid and a little thinner than the SG, which I like.
I also bought a hard-shell case since it only came with a gig bag.

I have two! gold top LP Deluxes. One I bought new for my 60th B-day several years ago. Swapped out the Gibson mini humbucker for a SD one that's a bit hotter, also added a roller bridge and a Bigsby on a Vibramate. About a year after that I bought a really effed up Goldtop, also a Deluxe, from some guy who had changed the mini humbuckers for SD P-90s. He said he had screwed up the top by being very careless with it- leaving it in a amp place and/or playing with insect repellent on his arms. The surface is very checked and beat, though perhaps he was trying to relic it and was too embarrassed to tell the truth. It actually looks kind of cool. I got it very cheap, and the only change I made was to add a Bigsby/Vibramate and roller bridge.
I also bought one of those very limited double cut ones with P-90s and one volume, one tone, no pickguard. It plays great and is very very light.

After the first Eastman sb59 lefty arrived with it’s neck snapped as if Pete Townsend was doing QC, Eastman stepped up big time, found another one at a dealer in Nashville, gave that dealer full credit for it and paid him to ship in to my dealer, who received it last week and I picked it up tonight.
This is an “on the down low” guitar which will be smuggled across the border into my basement music room after the CFO goes nighty night. Pics tomorrow!

Then slowly bring it out now and then, and tell her, "I've had this all along, you never remember anything!" Works like a charm.
