That's a sweet guitar for a sweet price.

I have the Probuckers in my Epi LP Custom Pro and they're excellent pickups.

They even did a ‘50s neck profile. And I like the new headstock.

Well, I did that too.
If I like it my faded brown Trib SG goes. I won’t keep them both.

That Goldtop is the bomb.
I'd be very tempted, except for the country of origin. This is not intended as a political post, so I'll stop right there. Just not going to buy anything from China for the foreseeable future. Maybe someday (again).

There were 3 SGs when I first looked. They all looked fine so I chose the lightest. Iirc something like 6lbs 10oz.
I recall that the LP is 8lbs 8oz.

Well...
The fit and finish is nice. The nut slots are a mile high. Fret ends are fine but the frets could use polishing. They put lefty knobs on these. That's interesting! They wired them lefty. 2 out of 3. They didn't use reverse taper pots. The tones don't work until the very end, when they turn to mud.
So 2 out of 3.
These are going back.

Same issue as on the USA made G&L Doheny I got recently. I've been sending messages to Wolfe (who I bought it from via Reverb) and they've apologized and told me they've sent my concern on to G&L so they can contact me and address it (supposedly be sending me a new guitar without the issues), but I haven't heard from either G&L or from Wolfe in a week now ... TWO of my messages back to Wolfe on Reverb have not been responded to - in several days. Monday I'm sending them one more message - to let them know I'm getting ready to get Reverb involved with a formal complaint. In one of my messages I offered to send the guitar back if they'd give me an RA#, but that was one of the messages they didn't respond to. As a pastor, I know I'm not supposed to say this, but I'm getting a little pi$$ed...

BTW - when I talked to the guitar tech support guy at Sweetwater he had no clue about the pots and the whole tone control situation. I asked him if they had a lefties setting up guitars and he said he didn't think so.
He was nice and the returns were no problem. I also had him put in the notes that the nut slots were extremely high.
It's really disappointing that, in 2020, MIOC still can't achieve the quality of the 2005 MIK guitars. They're not even trying, aside from the appearance of the instruments.
As you can imagine, with the nut slots so high, the rest of the action was really high. The nut slots are the beginning of great action. These would be good for slide right out of the box.

Yeah.
So I contacted Wolfe through Reverb again, and learned that the G&L rep had been trying to reach me via cell phone (they said he would e-mail me, and I never saw any e-mails). I thought they were just political donation calls (getting way too many of those these days), so I hadn't listened to my messages in a few days (I know, I know...). He had indeed left me two messages.
So I called him back yesterday and left a message at his extension. Since he didn't answer, and I had a full day yesterday, I told him to call me today or I would call him back today. So later this morning I'll try to reach him again. The time difference with CA means waiting until later this morning (and getting some other work done).
Wolfe has told me G&L wants me to ship the guitar back to them so they can send me a new one; I just want to get the issues addressed with this one and not deal with a bunch of shipping (only to get a 2nd guitar with the same nut and pot issues).
So - developing...

I’m tired of explaining the pot issue to people.
Heck... Reverend told me I’m wrong, in so many words.
The two people I talked to at Sweetwater were deer in the headlights.

The more I think about it, the more likely I am to NOT ship this guitar back to G&L for ANY reason. I can fix the pots myself, and I can also recut the nut (as long as I can get the old one out w/o damaging the finish, etc.). I would just like a discount of some kind for my trouble... ...still haven't been able to connect with the guy from G&L. Maybe today. I'll have some time this afternoon to try several times.

That’s annoying for a guitar at this level.
