Put a couple 2” thick KC Strips on the super reliable Weber Silver Genesis grill. We’ll have some Olathe, Colorado sweet corn 🌽 to go with the huge steaks 🥩. That should do it for me and grandma! We don’t eat like we used to and no company to cook for.

I've had a rack of ribs in the smoker for about three hours. In the meantime, I've made coleslaw, potato salad, and baked beans. Only 5 of us for dinner this afternoon, so folks better skip lunch!

Steamed small mouth bass fillets we caught yesterday on the lake Michigan side of Door County, with steamed veg, garlic bread and champagne. Heaven.

Nothing like a good shrimp chickentail!
We had Baby Back ribs, 5 hours on the Weber kettle. My wife made coleslaw to go with it.

We ordered Chinese from our favorite place.
In fairness, we did our family BBQ early, on Saturday.

Burgers on the grill, baked beans, grilled potato wedges, homemade coleslaw.
After dinner we went to our fav custard stand for a soft serve "twist" cone, amazing stuff.

Beyond Beef brand (all vegetable) "Beyond Burgers".
OK, now...hear me out...
I'm not some macro-biotic, vegan hippie who adores toe-furkey or anything. I've general scorned most meat "substitutes" in the past. But these things aren't bad at all grilled and plopped between a couple slices of toasted, guacamole-slathered sourdough with dill pickle slices.
Most other "meat substitutes" have left me hungry: feeling like I ate air, but I find these things actually satisfy my appetite. Wifey found them at Costco and also enjoys them.
So if you're feeling adventurous sometime, maybe give 'em a shot.

I don’t mind eating non-meat meals, we do it several times a week. But I draw the line at non-meat meat.

"Nothing like a good shrimp chickentail!"
Hah, nabbed by the chicken filter.
When it comes to shrimp I usually don't make shrimp crocktail but found an intriguing recipe. Boil pot with carrots, celery, garlic, lemon, onion, thyme, parsley and bay leaf for 30 minutes, then turn off and add shrimp for 3 minutes. I usually peel and de-vein first but this one says to do it after the cooked shrimp reach room temp. Homemade clocktail sauce (ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice/zest, Worcestershire). Yum.

The 2” thick KC Strips were wonderful! Juicy and tender. Best I’ve had in a long time. The corn, not so good. Tough and not much flavor. I may try boiling to see if it is any better.

My normal go to corn farm has had not so good corn this year. I have heard on the interwebs that this is a bad year for corn.
Beyond beef, hope you like coconut oil. Last time I got a real answer this was the majority ingredient.
I'm with Mike (mfitz) it's real meat or a real vegetable. I don't care if it tastes exactly the same, or better. Call it what it is. "Terms matter"
Cows don't produce flatulence anymore today than they did 200 years ago, when we had 100's of millions of buffalo roaming the plains. Just pointing out a fact.

MJB, Those ribs look absolutely delicious. K4, thanks, they were great. Leftovers were great too, even after a short nuke to heat them up.
