I've got hearing problems these days and I *hate* going anywhere that's too loud.
We've had to stop going to a couple of Italian restaurants we really like because of the background conversation noise. Especially the one that does the "as much Prosecco as you can drink in two hours for £20 (3 course meal included)" I'm sure you can imagine what that turned out like :-(

I don't even like going to places that seem to attract families with children -- kids = loud.

I don't get this huge thing with chicken wings, there's barely any meat on em. No thanks. Gimmie a nice thigh or drumstick.

If you think chicken wings are bad, try eating crawfish...

If you think chicken wings are bad, try eating crawfish... Yuck. I don't do any shell fish, all fish make me sick. Haven't had any in over 40 years. Just the smell is enough to make my stomach churn.

At least you get potatoes and corn on the cob with crawfish...

I rarely order wings anywhere, unless I've taken a pill for my acid reflux. I have to be in the mood for them, and that's not very often.
I've made them at home a few times, though, years ago, using the recipe off the Louisiana Hot Sauce bottle. They're tasty!

We won't stay at places like that where the atmosphere is loud. We go to eat and have good conversation. Don't even get me started about BWW. I gave the local one 2 chances, only because my step-son wanted to go there. Anything not wings was disgusting and obviously straight out of the freezer into the frialator.

We went to a new Irish joint the other night. It was so loud (just customer noise) I could barely hear the ladies across the table. Good food, good service. Fortunately left before the Irish band started. The noise is engineered in, it gives the "illusion of gaiety".

I can not get my head around how such a truly mediocre place like BWW can stay in business. Aside from the horrid and noisy environment, is there anything on their menu worth eating? Not IMO.

I don't even like BWW's wings. How do you get that wrong? I'm not talking about the sauce, the wings themselves are no good. Jhawker, there was no music, this was strictly crowd noise. Everyone shouting to be heard and the hard surfaces reflecting the noise around the room. NEVER again!
That is a good verse for a 12 bar blues song

I have Wings a few times a year.
Having been to the Anchor Bar back in the day when they were invented, I enjoy them.
But I go to little hole-in-the-wall places for them.
You know, the joints with neon beer signs and a bunch of Harleys out front.

IMO.. If it's so loud you can't carry on a conversation, then it's too loud. Most of the time even attending concerts I could carry on a conversation (all be it somewhat yelling)
Close by, there is a great bar that serves some excellent fish... but it's so loud ... and not the good loud, but the harsh, raspy treble imbued loud that gives you a headache and keeps you from conversing

I don't believe the dB meter app. It had to be over 90.

I understand not liking certain establishments, and dishes, but dang, wings are the best of the bird! Fried or grilled, Nashville Hot or Classic Buffalo, wings are the thing. I cook with thighs but could care less about the breast, or the rest. Good ones have plenty of meat, up your game!

Our town used to be pretty small, couple thousand. Gentrification has changed that. There is a tavern that is way too popular. Food is mediocre at best, crowd noise makes conversation impossible. Last time I was there I HATED it. Not going back. Course I dont line eating out anyway
