I'm more of a cross quarter kind of guy, but I acknowledge that we are now officially starting the slide down, down, down. Of course, right on time the oil delivery truck arrived.

Love the fall colors. Maple out front is getting ready to turn red. Soon the trees will be bare and I’ll be wishing it was spring.

It's a little know fact that if you gamble in Las Vegas on the day of the Autumnal Equinox, your gains will exactly equal your losses.
Tomorrow everything shifts back to normal, and you'll find yourself at the local pawn shop, trying to sell your watch in order to buy a bus ticket home.

It's been non-stop rain here since yesterday, somewhere in vicinity of 8" so far.

Here in eastern Tennessee, it's like somebody pulled a switch and it got real chilly all of a sudden ... I like it, being a Yankee, by birth...
Waiting for Indian Summer ...

We had 10" of snow ten days ago in the High Rockies! It was still summer!
But it melted nice and slow over the course of 3 or so days, leaving behind some much-needed moisture. It was something of a miracle, actually.
And now the aspens are in pure-golden mode; very beautiful, but I don't think the colors are going to be long-lived this year.
We have friends here from North Carolina, and another couple arriving from Nebraska today. We'll take them up to Twin Lakes tomorrow in search of colorful aspens. I know a spot....

The only good thing about fall is the arrival of college football. I know people love the fall colors, and they are pretty, but then the leaves drop off and everything looks dead for 6 months.
Winter is OK. I like sledding, skiing, etc., but it always drags on too long and the 15-20 below days (sometimes weeks) can really test your endurance.
Spring everything comes to life again. It's a time of renewal and hope. Not ideal for outdoor activities, but you can feel it coming.
Ahhhh...summer. The time of year where you can walk outside it shorts and a t-shirt and be comfortable. Throw a frisbee or grill steaks in comfort. It gets hot, but I'd much rather deal with 100 than 20 below.
And then, back to fall: essentially the death of summer. Oh well, enjoy the crisp air, get prepared to hunker down for the winter, and look forward to next spring/summer.

Where I live, the Central Louisiana Power Company (CLECO) probably has its lowest revenue from the October billing period. Neither the air conditioning nor the heat runs as much during that month.
I love it!
