So, anyone else catch the CNN documentary on Linda Ronstadt last night? I thought it was very well done and informative. I still remember first hearing her with the Stone Ponies. I did not realize how diverse her musical talents were. Rock, Country, Light Opera, Traditional pop, Traditional Mexican. One of my favorite albums was "Trio" with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris.

I caught part of it and I agree, it was very good. Linda deserves the recognition.

I waited all day to watch it (BIG fan back in the day!), and then CNN showed a documentary on impeachment instead of the LR doc.
Just one more reason to hate CNN.

I saw some of it last night and liked it a lot. The part where LR helped Emmylou Harris get through the death of Gram Parsons was really well done.

This could very well be the first true carryover topic from the old place. This could be the first true piece of the new Moes history!
Question is, What would Linda think of that?

I thought it was great. My wife was shocked at what a true talent Linda is. She only knew a couple of her songs from back in the day

Mostly play Fender guitars and amps. I'm 71 and have had a guitar since 1964. Got serious in 1975.

I have always liked Linda. She is smart and has always recorded great songs. I like her late 70's and early 80's stuff. The Trio album is great.

I waited all day to watch it (BIG fan back in the day!), and then CNN showed a documentary on impeachment instead of the LR doc. It was on CNN and CNN-HD at 9pm EST and I watched in its entirety. The band she had during her first headlining shows in 1975 - '76 with Andrew Gold, Kenny Edwards, Waddy Wachtel, Dan Dugmore, Brock Walsh and Michael Botts was pure genius.

Like they said she may not have been a song writer, but if she sang a song she made it hers.

I enjoyed it so much I plan to On Demand it over the weekend to watch it again. I owned all of her pop stuff up until she went to Broadway, when I let her drift away. After seeing the film last night I am now rabid to get my hands on all of her Nelson Riddle era recordings. I feel good knowing we’re living in a world with Miss Linda in it

A great tribute to one of the all time great singers. I saw her around 1975 at the Hollywood Bowl. A magnificent voice backed by an incredible band. So sad that she can no longer sing.

"Hasten Down the Wind" had a pretty hot cover photo.
I think I bought the album and threw the disc out the window.

It showed on the CNN cable channel at the advertised time. As I understand it the documentary on impeachment showed on the CNN/International channel, (which may be the source if you were trying to watch it online.)

Been hearing and reading a lot of buzz about it that caused me to check out some interviews and songs...she seems a lot more...genuine than I expected. I worked a show of hers back in the day and it was dwf top flight in talent, production etc. she was the big cheese back then. I thought she was kind of music lite back then, but I listen now and am impressed by her skill. And the trio? Wowzers.

I watched it a couple nights ago. I had a girlfriend who had a bug up her butt about Linda thinking that Karla Bonoff should have been the one getting all the attention since she wrote a few of Linda's hits. I've seen both Karla and LR a couple times, and while I think Bonoff has a nice voice, Linda is on a different level.
I've been a fan since the 70s so there wasn't much new to me in the piece -- but I would have bet that she and Aaron Neville were a thing for a while. I guess not.
I enjoyed it.

It was excellent. Really well done.
Despite her claim she can’t sing anymore, those harmonies in the living room at the end were outstanding. The arena-rock voice may be gone, but she certainly still has ‘it’.

Okay, just watched it. VERY good!
I was such a fan back in the '70s-'90s, from her Stone Poneys days on. "Heart Like a Wheel" is a masterpiece, one of my Top 10 favorites.
I'm a pretty average harmony singer, but enjoy trying. I'd rather sing harmony than the melody. And I think I learned to sing harmony listening to those early LR albums. and singing along. Great harmony on "Willin'," "When Will I Be Loved," "Love is a Rose," and a bunch of others.
I remember, years ago, reading that she said that back in the early days she really didn't know how to sing, that that came later. And watching this show that spanned decades, I could see what she was talking about. In the early years, her voice was wonderful but she seemed to be working hard. Towards the end, when she was singing the mexican stuff and "Pirates of Penzance," she was singing with a much greater range and made it look effortless.
And, thanks to her, I am also a big fan of Karla Bonoff and Elvis Costello, two artists that she helped make famous, among others.

Huge fan. She was a singular talent in popular music that had very few peers. Very sad that she can no longer sing. One look at this pic and you *know* she's trouble

I haven't seen it yet but will try to find it. I liked the part in the Eagles documentary showing how she gave them their break.
One of my favorite guitar parts happens to be at the end of Poor Poor Pitiful Me when Wachtel is rawkin' that gnarly riff.
One thing that always baffled me is why she chose to hook up with Governor Moonbeam.
