I had some time to play 3 of my 4 basses through this amp. It is a decent sounding amp through my 1 x 12 and 1 x 15 cabs along with 12" mid range horn. Lows are strong and clear, mids are good using Low mid and High Mid controls. Treble control I leave at 1/2 plus there is a bright switch to add some sparkle to the top end. Contour switch of coarse effectively cuts mids. So far I do not use it. I love the controllability of the tones and volume levels. Has Gain and Master for regular stuff and switchable on front panel or foot switch of the Drive and Level. Vintage pushbutton works in conjunction with the Drive and Level to add some grit otherwise no discernable effect. The amp is very quiet until you turn Drive up over 1/2 then some hiss (I can reduce the hiss with MXR 10 band EQ by cutting 8khz to zero and 4 khz to flat) which so far is my only slight con with the amp. There is a Send/Return Effects jacks on back. The Send can be use also for external tuner if needed. Mini Headphone Jack that mutes the speakers when headphones are plugged in. And last but not least there is a Balanced output with Post and Pre pushbuttons for connection to PA or for clear quiet recording. Rated 800 watts RMS at 2 and 4 ohms and 400 watts RMS at 8 ohms. 2 year Fender warranty, Nice carrying bag for the head and a nice sized external pocket, Foot Switch for Drive/Level enable disable as well as the front panel switch, and a 3 foot heavy duty Speakon Cable all make for a nice piece of gear at a nice price of $599.
Are there better heads? Of coarse but for the money this is in my opinion a good buy

I'm a fan of small , powerful class D heads . And lightweight cabs . And there's been some incredible advances in amp features and versatility without huge price gains . In fact , we might get more amp for our buck these days than ever before . I briefly had a 15 watt Rumble . It was godawful . I forgot that I was used to good tone . I bought it so I could plug in and practice at the in-law's . I turned it on two or three times and then picked up a little Class D head . Aux in and headphones , eventually picked up a little Ampeg 210 cab for it . Perfect practice rig . The lesson learned was not to trust a cheap little 15 watt box and expect tone . It's funny how we carry around a concept of good Bass tone . Regardless of what amp I'm using , my basic working tone seems similar . I've been trying to adjust my preferences to suit the different structures of various amps , but inevitably my amp sound is similar . My right hand technique always shifts to suit what I'm playing but I've got to spend more time spinning the knobs . Between various gain stages , filters and eq we have a few . The Rumble 800 sounds like it's well laid out . LTB , it sounds like you've picked a winner , hope it will fit your needs !

To my ears Rumble series sound did not get better until 100 watt model combo When helping my cousin buy her a decent bass amp we tried the 100 and 200 watt RMS Wattage Combos. The 100 was ok but the 200 sounded really good to my ears so that is what she bought. In retrospect I wished I had kept my Genz Benz Streamliner 600 for back up. It was a good amp. I traded in a while back to help pay for a Katana Artist guitar amp as I had the Markbass Lil Ninja. The Streamliner was reliable while the Markbass started to exhibit intermittent weird issues (hence reason for getting this amp).

My home amp is an old GK MB 150 . And it goes out the door for studio work and rehearsals . I initially bought it when I first started playing upright , just over twenty years ago . It's simply a great little amp , in fact when I stupidly blew it up I bit the bullet and did a fairly expensive repair because I loved the thing . I often fatten it up at low volume with a little Yamaha Nathan East box . When I went looking for something to leave at the inlaws I decided I didn't need much , but I discovered that I really am accustomed to good tone . So the Rumble 15 went out as quickly as it came in . Lesson learned . I still have a later GK RB 400 too . Heh , those things are bullet proof , but it just sits in a closet . Can't bear to part with it though ...

My home amp is an old GK MB 150 . And it goes out the door for studio work and rehearsals . So you mostly play upright?

Mostly electric , but double . Playing mostly blues and roots music the upright was unavoidable .

My home amp is an old GK MB 150 . And it goes out the door for studio work and rehearsals . I asked because it seems like such a small wattage amp playing out

Fine for small rooms low volume , home practise and rehearsals . Great studio amp . Small and light so it's great to haul around , but was never a main gigging amp . They're 100 watts at 8 ohms , add an extension cab and you've got 150 watts at 4 ohms . At lower volume have a surprisingly rich sound . They were revolutionary when they came out , but today there's a ton of more powerful , and cheaper choices . (Like your new Fender) . It was not a surprise to see GK discontinue them this year . They had a great run .

I recently bought a Rumble 40 combo for low volume situations, where bringing a head and cabinet(s) isn't necessary. I haven't A/B'd it with my gig rig, but think it sounds decent. The presets are kind of interesting, but I prefer just using the tone controls; and like that it has separate low and high mids. The speaker may be the weakest link. I thought about upgrading it but, at least for now, it's probably adequate for the intended purposes of this amp.

The speaker may be the weakest link How so? Is it "bottoming out" with volume and deeper lows? If so, I did some research and several people have used and recommend the Eminence Basslite S2010 Neo Speaker for the Rumble 40

LTB, thanks. So far, it hasn't been pushed hard enough to actually bottom out but, given what I hear at these levels, that seems possible.

I like the Rumble 40. I use in my living room almost exclusively. It’s all low power solo rehearsal. I picked up the Ruble 15 based on the 40 and I’m also disappointed. Even tried a speaker upgrade. I’ll included in a deal when I sell of a few basses I don’t use. The Phil Jones Double four has all my low powered needs taken care of. I’ve got a GK MB150 that doesn’t work, it was good when it did, there is a service center in Jacksonville but I haven’t had the opportunity to head in that direction. It’s worth getting fixed. I use the Genz Benz Class 9.0 in more professional settings.

Been a fan of the Rumble V3 series for a few years now. Have a 500c with Rumble 210 and a 112 cabs. Also a 100c and a Studio40. Tough to beat for the money. LTB, I still have my Streamliner 600 that I recently pulled out of mothballs and started loving it again. It seems to have a lot more punch than I remembered. I have no reason why I have so many amps, especially when there's no place to play. Someday.....

I have no reason why I have so many amps, especially when there's no place to play. Someday..... If you want some serious punch put a Tungsol 12AX7A in V1 slot. Like I have said. I am sorry I did not keep the Streamliner 600 as a Backup. I thought I wouldn't need it when I got the MarkBass Lil Ninja 1000watt amp new. Funny how that works. I kept the 600 for 2 years after buying the Markbass then sold it to get the Katana amp for my guitar. Within a month after the Markbass started exhibiting weird intermittent issues. After the 2nd of two weird issues No output whatsoever. Disconnected one cab...notta...disconnected second cab (both then disconnected) then reconnected one ok now, connected other, ok. I don't play my amps loud in my music room. Both Cabs are fine. I think the overload protection kicked in erroneously. Nothing shorted out on the cabs. Amp hadn't even been turned on in several days as I hadn't felt like playing and they were set just loud enough to play along with computer speakers.
