Ok, I have to admit, I've had it for several weeks now, but I never got around to posting about it. I was looking at a few different Jazzmaster models, and even though I'm not crazy about the look of the knurled knobs on the Ultra, I ordered one once I read that they had S1 switching that puts the pickups in series or parallel, and the upper slider switch puts the pickups out of phase when they are both engaged, with volume knobs for each pickup. Not your normal Jazzmaster setup, but it's my first one so that didn't matter to me. I do prefer the features on the Ultra. If you're not familiar with the Ultra, they have a screw-in tremolo arm like on a Strat, a new tapered neck heel and "modern D" neck shape, compound fretboard radius, locking tuners, S1 switching, and the out of phase switching already mentioned. I've already swapped the noiseless pickups out for the '65 Vintage Jazzmasters. The noiseless pickups weren't bad, but I could see why so many people don't seem to care for them. It's hard to describe....but as soon as I put in the new pickups, it was a better sounding guitar, and the out of phase position sounds better now, also. I sold the noiseless pickups on Reverb in one day, because I don't think you can buy them anywhere, so the pickup swap didn't cost me anything. As I said, I've had it for a few weeks and it's a great, high quality, well built but pricey guitar. Mine looks like this: Cobra Blue

Weirdness. The link initially took me to Sweetwater "On-Stage Stands MA-100 5/8" Female to 3/8" Male Microphone Thread Adapter". This has recently happened a number of times with links. 2nd click took me to the right link.
Beautiful guitar.

Congrats! I like some of the upgrades on the Ultra, like volume for each pickup and phasing switch. I got the newish Troy Van Leeuwen model in the copper color. More traditional, with the rhythm circuit (a toggle vs slider switch). It has the 65 vintage pickups, which I love. I like the feel and balance of the Jazzmaster. Enjoy your new guitar. Before you know it, you'll be playing Walk Don't Run!

Love the tremolo on this also, it's much easier to use than the one on my Strat.

Congrats! That’s a real beauty!
I still think about getting a Jazzmaster from time to time (I had one years ago).

I really like Jazzmaster and Jaguar trems too. There's something about the feel of them. Oh, and yes good looking guitar, hope you enjoy it.

There's another new Jazzmaster model that has a Strat trem. I passed on that because of that. Looked weird too.

Ooooo. That is a sweetie of a guitar.
I agree with you on the pickup swap; there definitely is a sound difference, and I prefer the 65s. Very nice that the swap cost you only your stick time.
