It's not a question of good. They are all sound the same, with some variance from unit to unit because of tolerances in the parts but the chips don't have a sound, the circuit does. The modern ones are just as good. However, the old ones ARE collectable and yours is worth some money.

I have a vintage Super Tube (Screamer) and a Five Band EQ pedal. Both are Ibanez products. The EQ pedal is worth more than the screamer. Do they sound good? the answer is yes. Have I bought a bunch more distortion and effects pedals anyway? Again, the answer is yes.
