He didn't shake Nick Foles hand after the Eagles won the Superbowl and hasn't in any games against Foles since (though Nick usually beats him) I watched the Bucs/Rams tonight and he headed right off the field and didn't shake Goff's hand either (not long after throwing a pick that clinched it for LA) But he's more than willing to hang around the field when he wins. He's the 'goat' among QBs but when it comes to sportsmanship, not even close.

I don't think he is the GOAT and agree he lacks sportsmanship.
When you are told you are that good consistently, it can be hard to accept the bad when it happens.

As a Pats fan (long suffering until Brady came along), Brady is the GOAT, IMO. But it was the combo of him and Belichick that got him there.
And yeah, he could be quite the prima donna -- but if you're a fan of the team and they are winning, it's easy to overlook some things. He gave us a great 20 years -- I'm OK with him.

I think he is top 5, but not the GOAT.
Tom himself said another talented QB would have had the same or better success in the NE system.

Much as I don't like him, I can't think of anyone so good for so long. I think he holds the record for most rings, td's, wins, etc. I guess you could make an argument for Montana, but don't give me Starr, Elway, Marino, Unitas etc. They were great but...

The problem with picking the one, is all the different eras.
Tom said that about a currently playing QB.
Is he the best of this era? possibly, he does have all those rings.

I have never liked Brady so this comes as no surprise. Give me John Elway any day.

Today all the sports outlets are saying the same thing, poor sport acting like a baby and tarnishing his legacy. Oh Tom.......

There's quite a bit you can put up with if the results are there, that's for sure. the New Jersey Devils had a goalie who would post emoji filled game recaps on Twitter after each game. The fans liked it a lot in 2017-18 when the team was winning some games and made the playoffs. After that season, when the team took a turn for the worse and was losing a lot, everyone started calling him a douche and hated his recaps. Winning isn't everything, its the only thing, as they say...

I guess you could make an argument for Montana, but don't give me Starr, Elway, Marino, Unitas etc. They were great but... Marino had excellent numbers without the guys Montana had. Marino>>>>>>>Montana for me. The 49ers had an excellent defense, strong running game, and a shifty Jerry Rice. They also ran a West Coast Offense which was based on creating mismatches at the line, throwing short passes to the open receiver, and (hopefully) having the receiver gain yards after the catch. QBs in this type of offense build up their stats by throwing a lot of short passes which add up by the end of the game. And, especially with San Francisco, defenses had to respect their running game which meant that it became that much easier for Montana to complete those passes. In Miami, Marino and the Dolphins no longer had the "Killer Bs" defense, and the running game was below average. So, every defense knew that Marino was going to throw the ball. Comparison scenario: Montana, under little to no pressure, throws an 8 yard pass to Jerry Rice. Rice then runs for an additional 52 yards, and Montana is credited with a 60 yard pass. Marino faces a blitz since they know he's going to pass, sidesteps a blitzer, and hits a receiver right on the numbers 50 yards downfield. The receiver gains another 10 yards, and Marino is credited with a 60 yard pass. Okay; 2 QBs with the exact same stat... which is the more impressive passer, and which is the overrated Game Manager?

Marino was a terrible holder on field goals, though.

A few weeks ago the Raiders defeated the Chiefs. At the end of the game Carr was looking for Mahomes to shake his had and have a brief chat. It was sad as the cameras followed Derek as walked around in search of Patrick. But as the rest of us knew, Mahomes ran off the field duing the final seconds and was kicking back in the locker room. Mahomes, in my book, is a looser. Derek is a winner.
