Here in Hawaii we had a stay at home lockdown between March 22nd and end of May. That meant we had no in-person church service during that time. I had to quickly learn how to do budget friendly live streaming remotely. I thought about Zoom but was impressed with what could be done with OBS Studio. I picked up an inexpensive camcorder and capture box and downloaded OBS Studio - the free software application and was streaming live from Facebook that way. With an audio mixer, I could have a few people in on a conference call so the pastor could deliver his sermon, etc. I was the host and would play music videos with lyrics. Now since we're back in-person at church, we just set up an iPhone to go live on Facebook. I still use OBS Studio for my own personal live streams. Anyone else doing this?

I haven't done this yet but OBS Studio is one of the things we're looking at to replace our Slingboxes at work. The difference is we have to be able to stream from our own servers and not go through a service like Facebook or Youtube, have people be able to watch from their computer, Iphone or Android phone, and make the streams secure and password protected.
I've never done anything like this before but got thrown into it head first, so to speak. HUGE learning curve for me. The good thing is we have 2 years to get it working before Slingbox shuts down their servers making our boxes doorstops.
I enjoy learning about how to do this but so far my head's spinning from all the reading I've done, and I'm just getting started. No light at the end of the tunnel yet.
