I posted this guitar with a 3.4lb pine body a while back. The imperfections of the way that body was cut at the horn always bothered me, but it was had a a shade of butterscotch that I prefer to this one. I'm starting to bond with version 2.0 though, especialy with the new neck pickup. Body is 4.2lb ash from Wildwood (CA), finished by MJT with a closet clean nitro finish with mild checking all over. The bridge pickup is a Alnico 3 9.24k (BYO Vortex) and the neck is stratty with 42AWG wire on a tele bobbin (eBay q_pickups - $35!). I put a nickel silver cover on it to maintain the Tele aesthetic. The hardware I put on it is pretty good stuff - Fender locking tuners (I know, I still wrapped them), Callaham bridge and saddles, good pots, etc. It's all copper shielded and is now well-grounded. I forgot to ground the neck pickup cover and it buzzed like mad. I was able to solder a wire to the volume pot with the strings still on. I can't put this thing down, but my wife is making us take a hike at Torrey Pines today. Then tonight I'm thinking of tri-tip on the grill and beer. Braaaap! Pure dadness today... more photos: imgur.com/gallery/wY9XqPm

Very nice Justin. THE classic Tele. What are the neck specs? Hey, thanks Jim! Funny thing is that when I first started out in the early 90s I thought telecasters were the ugliest things out there. I figured it out a few years later when I got my first new tele - a 1997 American Standard. Been playing for almost 30 years with a 10 year hiatus from playing while I got married, bought a house and started a family. I never had a proper blackgaurd until this one. I gravitate toward the iconic aesthetics now. The neck is a MIM Fender roasted maple I bought new. I don’t think these are on any particular Fender model so it must be made for the aftermarket. It has a 9.5” radius and narrow tall frets. I had to file the nut slots down and I gave the fret ends and fretboard a little love. It has a nice broken in feel now. I put Fender locking tuners on it and a Reverend triple string tree. I don’t understand why the Fender staggered tuners come with 3 short and 3 long shafts. I had to buy a single short shaft tuner to put on the D string to make it work out better. Otherwise this would have needed two string trees. I dig the vintage buttons on a modern tuner. That was the theme I was going for - vintage looks with modern features.
