While I don't see it confirmed ... I understand Mr. West has passed on.

Did anyone ever convey emotion through tone better than LW? His time in the spotlight was brief but man, he burned brightly.

Like Clapton, part of that "tone is in the fingers" was his beautiful vibrato.

Yeah that puts a damper on my day. Mountain and West were among my favorites. I'd listen to his stuff all the time and whenever some of it shuffles up on my iPhone I just smile.

Always dug this cut, ran out and got the album when I first heard it:

Listening to Leftee’s link makes me want to un-case my Gibson LP Jr. No Sunn Coliseum to crank it through but my Marshall or Mahalo will do!

A friend saw Mountain do "Imaginary Western" live and he told me that when Leslie was playing his solo that tears were running down his face, and soon, so was most every face in the crowd, expressing something that can't be put into words. He said that it was like a religious experience.

RIP Leslie West. K4 said it well: P90's tone heaven.
(seeing all these greats pass make me sad and hope for a new generation of guitar greats)

Wow. RIP big guy. Nobody could say more with just 1 note. I saw Mountain 3 times and West Bruce and Laing once. Really liked his playing. The live side of Flowers of Evil is such a great live release. Just not a note out of place.

I remember reading that he and Waddy Wachtel lived in the same apartment building and that he credits Waddy with helping him to learn to play real guitar.
I have always enjoyed Nantucket Sleighride:
