I have a battery warehouse near me and they dispose of their pallets, so I pick out the nice untreated ones and scavenge them for wood for small projects. Rather than drink myself blind this evening, I hung out in the shop and made some sawdust to create this goofy cartoony wall hanging as a tribute to y'all here. The pallet wood I used here includes spalted maple, white oak, mahogany, shedua, and some U/I stuff. Happy 2021!

Wow, very nice! Are they available in ebony?

They certainly could be, but that costs a pretty penny. Ebony is insanely expensive because it's becoming more rare with time.
If I can find some zebrawood I'll make something similar except the animals will be rhinoceroseseses.
Confused person: "Why aren't they zebras?"
Me: "Because they're...not."

Making them from birdseye maple might've been a nice touch.
Other than that, I have no objections.

Love it, Peegoo! Good luck with future pallet supply as many shippers are changing over to the plastic ones. That sucked for me at my store because people would always come pick up the wooden ones I left out back in a matter of days but I had to haul the plastic ones to the dump.

Yeah, that's the drawback to 'progress'. The molded composite plastic ones are cheaper and last longer, and they stand up to water, etc., better.

Well done, Brother.
You're giving that scroll saw a workout.

Very nice. We made decorative Christmas trees for the yard from pallets this year ...last year. A handy source for a lot of projects. I have heard of people make a deck out of pallets. Really. Anyway I am that(points) one.

Is there a plan to weaponize this device? Cheers, y'all! Some pallets are stamped with "MB," which means it's already weaponized with methyl bromide to kill bugs. It's also quite toxic to hyoominz. I don't mess with those because a dust mask won't protect a person from MB; it's a neurotoxic gas which can be released when sawing and sanding the wood. The first girafe thing came out great and my hunnie talked me out of it (she's a woodworker herself and has made some pretty amazing things), so I made another one for my house. I like this one better anyway because I added some color with inks, which makes the critters even more cartoony. This one is staying right here.

Yeah, I don’t mean to nitpick, but couldn’t you have found some nice walnut or cherry pallets?
It’s good for what it is but I think you’re capable of better.

When we open a physical MT2 location, we’ll need one of those for the wall.
