I believe it is real but not sure we are getting the real story. Do we ever, about anything? Nope. Not at all.

I don’t know anyone who has passed- I had it myself in early Dec. Seemed like a chest cold, thankfully. Still have the lingering cough but am told that might hang around a while. I know a few folks who have had or currently have it but so far all have come through with no severe effects.

Lost my 84 year old step Dad this morning. Rapid onset, hospitalized, and passed within a week. Such an awful, isolating disease: no one can be with you while you are sick or dying, and for the family members who want to pay last respects at the funeral home, touching the body is still prohibited. I feel for his son who didn’t get the chance to say goodbye. It’s an awful disease....stay safe and be well.

I don't know anyone personally who's passed away. I have a neighbor who is an extremely fit early 60's who was on a vent for a week back in march and is still feeling the effects. I have a niece and husband (late 20's) who both tested positive with minimal effects.
Most of the people I know have been very conservative about taking risks....not travelling, eating out, etc., so it's no surprise I don't know a lot of people who've had it.

One of the retired supervisors of the school system in which my wife taught (I taught in the same system, between 45 and 50 years ago) died on New Year's Day at age 90 of COVID-19.

Yes, a friend and doctor and someone we skied with. He was in excellent condition. Played tennis, ran. We miss him.

As of this morning, there are TWO people from my high school alumni group, and one aunt (from my father's side) who have passed due to Covid.
The guy that passed on Sunday night got sick on Monday, was moved to Hospice on Saturday, and died Sunday night. The funeral is "closed casket", and no one was allowed to visit him in Hospice.

Mid 0ct my brother from Ks and the other from Tn, went to Midland tx to finally get my parents in assisted living. Both 88 and in sketchy shape. Had their furniture moved in and at the front gate they were both tested and came back positive. How could it be? They hadn’t been out of their house or seen anyone in months. The house cleaner who came on fridays with groceries and cleaned gave it to them. Of course back home for them 24/7 care. My mom lasted six more days, my dad went from barely walking to near totally immobile or capable of anything including walking or even standing.
Older brother, wife and I got it and nearly died. Younger brother and wife felt bad a few days. It took a long time to get our heads back on straight. Still pretty weak. Got my dad into a memory care an hr from us and he fell the next day. In ER starting sat and still not out. Our sil is a family doc in Okc and is seeing the full spectrum of ages. Nobody under 25 but a lot of deaths and people that were in good shape.

Hi everyone. Remember me? Of course not. A close friend of my girlfriend passed on Dec 20 from covid. I had only met her once. She was 63 and in good health. My sister's boyfriend's brother died early on, but he lived alone, was diabetic, and for some reason (depression, maybe) stopped taking his insulin. By the time someone checked up on him he had to be transported to the hospital, which may be the place he got the virus. Another friend of my girlfriend had a neighbor - male, age 60 - that died within the last week. Back in April or May I didn't know anyone that had been infected, nor did I know anyone that knew anyone that had been infected. That list is around 20 or 30. Reach out one more degree and the list gets to be closer to 50. Most have had mild symptoms, and that includes me back in early Dec. A few were pretty ill, one or two had to go to the emergency room, but were treated and released. One had to be taken to the emergency room via ambulance and was hospitalized for a few days. Many people, including myself, can't point to one person or place where they were infected. I was a little lax all summer long, playing a few private parties and lots of outdoor gigs (several indoor gigs as well). But early Nov I had carpal tunnel surgery so I wasn't really going anywhere for a couple weeks, and the gigs dried up. The week before I began having symptoms I worked out twice (Mon & Wed), went to a car dealership for a warranty issue on Tues, and played a gig on Thu. The fitness class is highly structured with strict rules on maintain space and cleaning the equipment you just finished using, no fans, no loitering, the facility is cleaned by staff in between classes, etc. So it seems doubtful that that's where I got it. The dealership is huge with lots of space and everyone wore a mask. The gig was in a large room with half capacity seating and barely half of those seats were filled. I never talked to anyone face to face that didn't have a mask on. This virus is real as hell, but just going on my own experience and knowledge it is impossible to predict.
