Interesting comment he makes about how they were already on the road before the album was even released. I saw them early on during that tour and the venue wasn't even half full. I had only recognized the band name and bought tickets because I had come across a promo copy of the album that some DJ had sold to a used record store I frequented. I don't think that many people realized who "Derek and the Dominoes" were when they saw posters for the concert. Keep in mind that Clapton was incredibly popular at the time due to Mayall, Cream, Blind Faith, Delaney and Bonnie etc.. Had they known it was Clapton's band, the concert would've sold out immediately.

I want to watch this, but God Bless his heart, Bobby was and integral part of that period, but its like listening to Ozzy I can only take so much. I am sure Bobby is a great guy but damn I want to watch it at 1.5 or 2x speed. Part of it must be a southern thing.

He talks like I talk, except I grew up in north Louisiana. Not sure where he's from.

You'd think for a musician he would be more conscious of the mic placement, because his wife sounds ok , but there's some hard bounce off that glass table top that makes it harder to hear him. I couldn't EQ it out.

He's from Memphis. I knew him from Delaney & Bonnie and Derek & the Dominoes but didn't realize how many other "big name" musicians he's hung with. I don't have any trouble understanding him either, Henry: maybe because I have lots of kin folk in Tennessee so developed an ear for that accent early in childhood. He tends to ramble, but most people in their 70s do (myself included). I find his stories interesting and entertaining.
Maybe they're not for everybody, but that's OK too.

We have friends who moved here in southeast Louisiana from Memphis. She told me she likes the way I talk. Most people in this part of the state talk more like Brooklyn or Cajun, or some combination.

Of all the southern/western accents, those in Oklahoma and Texas strike me, personally, as being the strongest. But I actually think that slurred, California surfer dialect is probably harder for outsiders to penetrate than just about any southern accent. The Cajun dialect is an interesting one. Helps to know some French to follow that one when it's in full force.
Whitlock uses some funny colloquialisms, too. In one of these videos, he makes reference to "sounds like BBs in a #2 wash tub", or something along those lines. I love stuff like that: really adds flavor to a sentence, even when I'm not exactly sure what the Hell he's talking about.

I’ve been following him but haven’t tuned in for a while. He has an interesting video where he talks about being in a haunted hotel room.
