I mentioned on the other strap thread that I was getting a bit itchy to make a couple of new straps. These literally are some mis-match scraps I have sitting in a bin. Probably should have taken a PIC with piled up on the table before I started. DSC_2458 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr The pieces I have here will be the front tip liner going on the back side. Two scraps have already been laminated to create the front of the strap. Here it is together and cut to a decent front tip shape. Ignore the dark spots, it's solvent moisture I used to eliminate some crud on the leather. DSC_2460 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr This is another more or less complete strap project I cut quite a while back. These pieces were in the box with the scraps. I walked away from this one because I couldn't make up my mind on the path forward at the time. I'm not sure I know the path forward on it even now. Maybe I'll think of something as I mess around here. It's a single piece face with re-enforcement end laminate pieces and then a black pigskin liner. DSC_2459 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr This 24 hours to edit is great! Here is the above strap now. I had mentioned in the other thread that I had a "polka-dot" strap that had went to another user in the past and I had wanted to replace it. Well, here it begins. DSC_2462 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr

Those holes will decrease wind resistance and definitely make you play faster. Science!
What kind of glue is that? It looks like either hide glue or barbecue sauce.

Those holes will decrease wind resistance and definitely make you play faster. Science! The holes are only there to hold colored leather inserts, which are the Dots. It's a long ways form complete.

First picture looks like bacon. All I can say is to warn you ... It tastes like contact cement.

I came up with a plan for the Scrap Strap. Since I'm in the mode of punching holes. I will dye the front hand rear portions of the strap black, dye the center section brown and install black dots down the center on 3" centers. Then probably lace it in black. DSC_2466 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr

Here's the latest on the Scrap Strap Some glare in the black there with the photo, but the look is about what I expected. DSC_2467 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr Need to cut slots in the tail for a short adjustment strap and the structure will be all complete.

Thanks Leftee. Here is the basics of the Polka-Dot Strap. I'll lace this one in black for sure. I'm a bit undecided on what I think of it. The previous dot strap was brown with black dots, I decided to reverse it this time. After seeing them both at this stage, Queenie likes Polka-Dot the best. I am more in line with Scrap Strap myself. DSC_2468 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr Adjuster slots and tails in place. That bottom one is short, but I have plenty of these. That one is just made from ... as you might guess, a scrap I had in a box. DSC_2469 by Larry Madsen, on Flickr Not much left to do here except for about 8 to 10 hours of lacing.

Very nice. I like the lacing on the side, but do you feel it when using the strap?

Very nice. I like the lacing on the side, but do you feel it when using the strap? This is the back side of the straps. Maybe if you are going shirtless and they are freshly new. Every single part of these are leather. Only the Contact cement that holds the slabs together is not. You might think of them like a pair of new shoes. They wear in, soften up and smooth out with some use. These two are both lined with pig skin. That's the black you see there with the somewhat perforated appearance. The short answer though is, under normal use, even when new I don't notice anything uncomfortable about them. The short answer though is, under normal use, even when new I don't notice anything uncomfortable about them. That's good. They are good looking straps, and obviously very well made.
