Came across this cool pic of him from August 13th 1966 at Detroit's Olympia.

Very cool. That was towards the end of their touring days.

Very cool. That was towards the end of their touring days. I saw them in Memphis a few days later. George had the Epiphone in the OP photo and was probably wearing the same suit. George's Epiphone had a Bigsby; John's was hardtail and still had the brown sunburst finish. George also played a Rickenbacker 360-12 while singing "If I Needed Someone." It was a newer, rounded-off 360-12, not the one he debuted in A Hard Day's Night, which was squared off and bound. (RI as 360-12c63) The organ in the above picture was probably the one played by the Cyrcle, who were also on the bill, along with the Ronnettes, Bobby Hebb, and the Remains. No one in the Beatles played that Vox Continental, as John had done the year before on "I'm Down."

I saw them with that opening lineup 8/28/66 at Dodger Stadium. Next to last public gig before the rooftop.

August 13th 1966 at Detroit's Olympia I was at the afternoon show that day, which I think is when that pic was taken. I scooted down to near the stage when George was playing the solo in Day Tripper before being shooed back to my seat by a security guard, who I swear was an off-duty nun.
Here's another pic from that show - I can't remember ever seeing Paul and John at the same mic live.

At the Memphis show, cameras were not allowed. A lot of girls tried to take pictures, had their cameras taken from them, and were escorted or even carried out of Mid-South Coliseum, crying their eyes out.
It as as if that were part of the show, and part of what we paid to see and hear.

George was the man. My favorite Beatle without a doubt.

It’s Michael Bolton’s birthday too... if that’s important to you.

Awesome that some of you guys got to see the Beatles. I did see George once, during his "Dark Horse (hoarse?)" tour.
My fave Beatle too.

Incredibly dapper too.
Too young to experience them but I did live in London during the sixties. I left when I was 5 in 1967. It’s not true to say that if you remember the sixties you weren’t there!
I was intrigued by the new Dylan ‘bootleg’ which features George on guitar at some point. From the ‘infamous’ 1970 sessions apparently. Released later in the month it will be winging its way to me then.
Happy birthday George

new Dylan ‘bootleg’ which features George My copy was delivered last night from Amazon (US). UK can't be far behind. I received notification that the AutoRip was available. I picked up a load of vinyl deliveries at the Post Office this morning and I’m going through them looking for defects in manufacture. That will be finished soon and I’ll have a listen. George and Bob. Looking forward to it.
