I've had a Spotify subscription for a couple of years, since we upgraded our hifi to include a Marantz music streamer (do they have a name?). At first I mostly found my favourite songs and played around putting them into playlists. More recently, though, I'm increasingly using one of Spotify's best design features: the option to save and listen to whole albums both as originally recorded plus more recent remix/remastered versions. This morning: all of Pretzel Logic and over the holidays various Procol Harum, Savoy Brown, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Joni Mitchell, Weather Report...

I have become a huge fan of Spotify and because I register for a class every semester at the local college, get a student rate premium membership. You can only get one for a few years but when the time comes to pay the full price, I will. I no longer buy records and CDs so Spotify works well for me. So long as you pay, you keep whatever you've downloaded.
I still like listening to albums and not playlists so Spotify works well for that. I also use Pandora as a modern version of FM radio and have a big list of created genre stations.

Mostly I use it to try before I buy. Its great for discovering new artists. I still buy CD'd and indeed Vinyl. Having the physical item is still a must for me. I cant always get online.
