I'm trying to get into more recording for some solo work and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this software. I've seen some convincing youtube videos where people use it to great effect, but am wondering if any of y'all have used it with success.

No experience myself, I haven't gone beyond "drummer in a box" (EZDrummer) with my home recording adventures. The technology is getting pretty amazing with this stuff. Before long they'll have a plugin that'll transform a vocal take into someone else's voice. Its an interesting thing, the current era of music production. On one hand the virtual aspect can be scoffed at (and often is), on the other hand its a resource for aspiring songwriters (or vocalists) to package their stuff. A person still needs an ear and creativity to make this stuff work. Think about a guy like Brian Wilson walking a bunch of session players through their parts. In a way this technology is just a futuristic version of that, providing the packaging of sounds and samples isn't so customized that it injects itself too much and becomes "the producer" despite your best efforts to achieve a different result.

I used it for a few years when it first came out. It was pretty cool, and I used it not to fortify recordings but instead as a sort of 'sketch pad' to try various chord progressions and arrangements on tunes we were writing. I'm sure the current version is even better than the Trio pedal.

I have a friend who played in a duo that used it extensively. He had been using it for years and is very good with it. Since COVID he has retired from gigging due to heart problems. He just turned 80. Still a great guitarist though. Anytime I go to Phoenix to see family we try to get together and play guitars for awhile. I always learn something when we do that.
