I'm going to study up on 11. I have a Win10 machine that I inherited when my mom passed away that I stashed under my desk for the day when my beloved Win7 machine croaked. That was about a year ago, so I hooked up the Win10 machine, which is like new.
I hate it though. Nothing is easy or intuitive, for me anyways. If 11 looks good, I'll buy a new tower. With any luck it would be the last computer I ever buy.

I could be on the last cup of coffee I'll ever buy right now. And in a little while I might buy the last tank of gas I'll ever buy. You just never know, right? (This is all too existential for 0630!)

And in a little while I might buy the last tank of gas I'll ever buy. You just never know, right? (This is all too existential for 0630!) No, it’s more along the lines of he buys a car, declares it his last, and then decides to trade it in for a new one for some reason we never understand. Sometimes a new feature (the seats fold away better, I NEED that), sometimes it’s just because. Last time it was because my Mom decided the Pacifica was too huge for her to drive every day, so she was going to get a Subaru Forester like his. Not to be outdone, my dad turned in his Forester and they bought his and hers in black and silver. And, they kept the Pacifica “for when they need it”, which from what I gather is twice a year when they go away for the summer and when they return. I keep reminding them if they need new and interesting ways to spend their money, I can provide a list, but they have as of yet not taken me up on that. The Estate attorney I worked for in law school said the simplest estate plan is only three words. “Die with nothing”. Enjoy it while you are alive, or give it to those who need it and watch them enjoy it in your later years. Now I don’t think everyone can do that, but for those who can, it’s not a terrible idea.

Two Subarus? They should move to Colorado, they'd fit right in.
We have two Hondas. I tell Mrs. R that it won't be long until we can get by with just one car, for her to go to the grocery store and drive me to the ER in.

I hope they learned and make 11 more like 7.

My parents are 74 and 75, soon to be 75 and 76, but they are still in relatively good health. They definitely need two cars because they are always doing their own things.
Did they need to keep the van? Probably not. According to them? Definitely.
My dad also needed an electric golf cart to drive himself around the development where they live in the summer. I will give him that one though, as the water access to the river is a bit of a walk down (and on the way back, up) a steep hill and they banned cars by the waterfront in the last few years.

When I retire I’m sticking “Farm Use” plates on the truck and I’ll probably get something like an Outback for a “daily driver.”

The FAQs on that Microsoft info web page continue with the "Show More" link:
"How much does it cost to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
It’s free. But only Windows 10 PCs that are running the most current version of Windows 10 and meet the minimum hardware specifications will be able to upgrade. You can check to see if you have the latest updates for Windows 10 in Settings/Windows Update."

Even if I wanted to upgrade, from Win10, I doubt this computer meets all hardware specs (even though it's only 18 months old). I wouldn't be surprised if that's one reason why XP or Win7 "hung on" to a good portion of the market share, long after their respective end of support dates.

Bob, of "Ask Bob," has accepted staying with Win 10, as he states in the first sentence of this recent article on Win 10 Tricks: askbobrankin.com/try_these_secret_windows_10_tricks.html?awt_a=6HSL&awt_l=GM2FR&awt_m=J1BAssmIv8P6SLIt occurs to me, or rather, I'm wondering what the true advantage of having Microsoft Windows support really is. I've thought it was to close hacker-prone holes in the operating system, and minor bug fixes. Probably true, but I'm thinking that a really good virus/malware program would catch just about anything trying to sneak through. I'm also thinking that the detection and elimination algorisms of that program are cumulative (not deleted as they grow old). (You can buy copies of Win XP and Win 7 on ebay. Get a "retail" version that won't be looking for a Dell computer, or whatever, when you boot the installation disc.)

Here's an example of Win7 vs. Win10:
A friend took a dynamite photo of a storm that rolled through the valley. I want to set it as my screensaver.
With Win7, I would right click on the photo, select "Set as screensaver," wait a couple seconds, done. New screensaver photo appears.
With Win10, I don't know. Spent 10 minutes yesterday trying to figure it out. Will try again today. Will eventually have my wife fight with it, as she's better at this stuff. Might get it done, maybe not.

I think one of the right click options in Win10 (at least if the picture in question was saved to Paint) is "Set as background". Don't know if that will function as a screen saver for you, though.

My PC is 7.5 years old, and it exceeds the requirements.
Win 10 is always busy doing.... something. If Win 11 can chill the eff out, it could be lighter weight. Browser bloat seems to be my bigger enemy in terms of memory, and my 8 GB gets munched up quickly if I have a few tabs open. I'm not sure that the OS taking up a bit more space will make much of a difference.
Also, fully expect to figure out how to go through and turn off crud you don't want. In Win 8-Win 10 turning off Cortana does wonders, but you need to Google it to figure out how to do it. You'll never figure it out on your own.
