Just a friendly reminder to everyone that has the luxury of living on Gulf or Atlantic coast that it's a good time to get your hurricane gear in order. We had a freak storm pass through last night and I have to take out a few small trees so it was a good reminder. Time to go fill up my jerry cans, run my generator, and tune up my chain saw!

My wife and I ran the Phil Peterson Key West Poker Run on our Harley ten times over the years of ‘96-‘16 and it was always run the 3rd weekend in September that was considered the peak of the hurricane season. I think we were chased out of the Keys twice by approaching hurricanes and ran into a very rainy ride to Memphis in 2002 when two hurricanes hit the gulf at almost the same time.

Considering we haven't even had our repairs done from the February ice storm yet, I'm hoping for mercy.

My main preparation is staying on really good terms with my brother in north Louisiana. We stayed with him and his wife about a week for Katrina. We left home the day before it hit.

It’s been a mild tornado season. Let’s hope for the same in hurricane season.

I don't purchase fuel until the end of Aug., or, if a major active storm is remotely near the GoM sooner. As far as other supplies; always have them anyway.

Last thing I saw on TV last night before going to be was a weather report of something in the SW part of the Gulf of Mexico. No word about what this may turn into, other than a lot of rain for SE Louisiana by Friday evening. Which is why I did some mowing this morning.

All the rain we've had in the past 6 or 7 weeks makes for a scary precursor if we should get a Harvey Jr.

Well, tropical storm warnings for the Gulf Coast have already been issued. I just hope we don't lose electricity.

Meanwhile 124 in Palm Springs yesterday -- highest temp ever recorded there. It is in the middle of a desert isn’t it? With geothermal hot springs nearby?

Anyone here in the path of this tropical storm in the Gulf?

Anyone here in the path of this tropical storm in the Gulf? I haven't checked the news or weather today. Is there a new one, or are you talking about the one that turned out to be an ordinary rainy day here in SE Louisiana?

Not really close to Death Valley, but near Cochilla and the Salton Sea, maybe 3 hours east of Los Angeles. Desert Hot Springs is a little north.

123? Well that's not so bad then It’s a dry heat so it’s fine. Plus you can save on natural gas by frying your eggs on the sidewalk.
