Many moons ago I got to mix on a sweet vintage console very like the one linked here and I have never forgotten it. Those big knobs are silky smooth and fine control is excellent. Can't comment on sound quality because that was back before digital and honestly everything in a studio sounded awesome to me then. But this board was just dripping with cool! If I had stupid money I would have an all-analog studio and a UA 610 console would play a major part.

That was before my day. All of the analog consoles I have mixed on had faders. I think the knobs would be fine having only 10 or 12 channels on the console. When you start getting up into 24 or more it's a lot quicker to adjust something with a fader. You have a quick visual reference as well. I dunno. Potato pototto I supposed. I'll bet those old tube driven mixers generated a lot of heat. The solid state ones are bad enough. When you start cramming that much electronics into that tight of a space the heat factor is considerable.

I can't say for certain but that console looks familiar and wonder if that was in the first studio I ever set foot in back in mid 70's.

ninworks, yeah, the one I did had eight channels, but that was plenty if you did it right! I've seen sessions done on 3-track mixed to mono that would rip your face off. I will agree with the visual advantage but those knobs feel great and are VERY precise.

I am odd but digital lets me be - I like faders for panning and knobs for level usually, and hit the 'flip axis' switch from one to the other on my DAW controller regularly!

I have the one in the picture and four 4 channel ones (no faders, just big knobs). Also have all 22 preamps and the five summing amps. I have built a wee jig for testing the preamps....they want to see +33 VDC so there's plenty of headroom. I have figured out how to get an unbalanced direct out and have balanced the output with Hammond 560G transformers. I will have some for sale in the future, will post in the buy and sell forum. cheers
