Fire’ed up the old Singer 301, this machine was made to celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Singer Sewing Machine, the year before I was born, 1952. It was designed, in part, for the public school system. They slanted the needle at 9°, making it easier to see the stitch, it also could make 1,600 stitches per minute, it’s my favorite of all the machines I have and I have 4 of these. I’ve made up about 10 Tortilla Warmers so far. These will mostly be given away to friends and family, not usually on the Christmas list. You know those unexpected gifts people give you and you can’t reciprocate. Not only am I that guy, I can respond in kind. I like making a bunch of crap to give away around the Holidays. flic.kr/p/2m6R2SU

I mean if you make your own tortillas, you can’t use a store bought tortilla cozie…

Awesome work, as always. It’s funny, I have no interest in sewing, knife making, etc but I can’t get enough of looking at the stuff you guys make.

Cool idea and great work but when I make fresh tortillas, there's usually a line at the grill waiting for them to come off the comal. They don't have time to cool off.
I could make them ahead of time but I like the theatrics of using the tortilla press and cooking them fresh.

I’m cooking for one, I made a tortilla press last year that works even better than my iron one. Took a bit of practice to get the home made tortilla the way I wanted. I know it’s simple, I find I like the masa a little more wet than dry, they’re perfect. In March of this year I spent a almost a month with a friend touring Texas and New Mexico. I was on a quest to learn as much about the cuisine as possible. The beans* took a good bit of experimenting to get it as good as the best we tried. Spent thee days in Hatch NM, I thought I knew a good bit about peppers, learned a lot more. These tortilla warmers are all cotton and quilted so they can be machine washed. Works well. flic.kr/p/2kEUeX8* recipe in the Forum Cookbook
