3,117 miles for the year. Cost $24.50 for oil and filter. I didn’t charge the wife for labor. I needed a shower, a nap and a couple Tylenol after.

I take my cars that are in warranty to the local dealer who does that stuff while I sit in the customer lounge with a complimentary beverage and watch TV or BS with a friend. I take the collector cars to my friend’s garage where he handles the maintenance. I got sick of crawling around under my cars back around ‘91 or so when I changed the spark plugs in a front wheel drive Seville I owned. I like working on the bikes but, at 74+ years old, I’ll let someone else skin their knuckles on the cars.

They make gloves to prevent the skinned knuckles now. Both my cars are out of warranty. The 2014 Mustang takes 8 quarts of synthetic oil which means it takes $100 for a stinking oil change at the dealer. I can do it myself for less than $45. The Escape costs $75 at the dealer for full synthetic. It’s a turbo so I think it’s necessary. Anyway, as long as I can, I will.

Local Valvoline oil change up the street for the win. Tops all fluids, airs tires, free car wash.
Can't go wrong. Sit in the car the whole time listening to a CD. Win win. And win.
Did I mention win?
Seriously, I've done it all on my vehicles years back. Now my back thanks me, as do, yes, my knuckles.

Harrumph. I had a 10 quart deep sump on my full race Pontiac RAIV 400 back in the day. My biggest problem was I had no dipstick, frequent changes were mandatory regardless. I miss that motor.

I am due for a change also, I may well go in the morning. I don’t, and have never, do it myself. Two things I don’t like messing with are engines and electricity.

I took in our 2010 Hyundai Elantra for an oil change last week -- last time it was in was September 2020, and <2.5k miles on the clock since then. Pandemic and resulting lock-downs made going anywhere a no-no for us. Most of those miles were in the last six weeks.
All you guys who handle oil changes yourselves -- how do you dispose of the oil removed from the engine?

I used to keep the used oil for chainsaw chain/bar lube. These days I take it to the local recycle center; it's super convenient.

8 quarts is the standard oil capacity for the stock 2013-2014 Mustang GT 5.0 V8.
I take the used oil to AutoZone. They sell the oil to a recycler. Win-Win.

I like to do it myself because I know what oil and filter is going into it. I use Mobil-1 full synthetic and Napa gold or Wix filters. Used oil goes to AutoZone.
I hate having to make an appointment and still waiting in the lobby for two hours for them to get to my car.

I change the oil in my vehicle once a year because I just don't put the miles on I once did. I do it myself. Nobody touches my rides but me ...except for recalls and TSB's. I keep a 5 gallon jug for the used oil. It takes years to fill it and then it goes to the parts store. I suppose at some point, I have to find someone or someplace to do it for me but hopefully, not for sometime to come.

Wife did not like oil on the driveway and some spilled I got tired of cleaning it up. Yes I know about putting something under the area but the house has a steep driveway and stuff runs. Anyway I started having it done. Even at 3,500 miles took 4-5 months so didn’t do it that often. It was mainly drive to work, 7.5 miles each way on backroad into Airport. Jhawker, if it cost me that much I would do it too.
