Starring Troy Donahue and Connie Stevens. A moment in time captured. Bad music. Thin story. Culturally insignificant. Example #1 how shallow white bread teen content was pretty much immediately pre-Beatles. This picture could really have used more (actually, any) Little Richard and a lot less Troy Donahue. www.imdb.com/title/tt0057396/

And the writer was Earl Hamner, who wrote Spencer's Mountain (Henry Fonda movie) and later created The Waltons.

I think most of the "B" movies aimed at teens back then, including cheesy horror movies, were just a means to an end. The end of course, being teens groping each other in drive ins and darkened theaters. The movie on the screen was something to glance at when coming up for air.

I totally hear ya on that one -- but there are great examples that rise above -- like this one ...... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Girl_Can%27t_Help_ItAppearing as themselves: Fats Domino, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, The Platters, Gene Vincent, The Treniers, and Nino Tempo. Richard, in particular, is killer-diller.

TCM channel just ran several classic HitchChicken films this weekend including North By Northwest, Vertigo, Dial M For Murder and of course Psycho and The Man Who Knew To Much. Maybe check your local listings more often Jimmy.
