I leave on my first airline flight Saturday since prepandemic times.
I have been on hold for 3 hrs and 11 minutes in an effort to TALK to a representative. Man does that background music get old...
Unfortunately, I can't do what I need to do online.
I sure hope they've maintained their planes better than their personnel staff...

I feel like it’s not just airlines, the more things that you CAN do online, the less people available by phone to help you with the things you can’t.

It's either dealing with interminable wait times or finally talking to someone in another country (or both). Instead of customer service I refer to it as "Customer no-service".

I sure hope they've maintained their planes better than their personnel staff... 6 You can just picture the only two Delta customer service reps in the world, sitting across from each other playing Battleship, while the hold buttons flash like a swarm of fireflies.

When, after an unsuccessful call, they ask “can I help you with anything else”, my usual response is “you haven’t helped me with anything yet”.

We went out to dinner Friday evening. Walked in without reservations but noticed several empty tables. Nice young lady hostess said it would be 20 minutes wait. When we asked about those empty tables, she said we don't have enough staff to cover them. Manager arrived and we asked again, he said he can't find wait staff or servers. Even starting at $16 an hour. He said its the same story for other restaurants that have managed to make it this far. It's not over yet folks.

I had to speak to United yesterday and at least they had the option to sign up for a callback; they called me within 20min of my first call.

The last time I flew was about 8 years ago and I needed to talk with a customer service rep. I waited on hold for about 6 hours, this was Delta. When I got a person I could not understand them. This is not a new problem with Delta anyway.

This is not a new problem with Delta anyway. I am not a Delta flyer -- with me it's United, American, or Southwest.

Here's a tip for you. When calling in always choose the Spanish language option. The person answering will speak English. This is important when you want to avoid long on hold times or call backs. BTW why is it that when they call you back you are running the beach trail?
