I did totally acoustic until around 2000. My first amp was a behringer blue devil solid state. Looking back it was a horrid amp. My first real amp was a fender blues jr. Then a succession of much better Fender tube amps.

late to the thread but first amp was a small tube amp from Sears in 1965. Next real amp was a Princeton reverb bought in 1967, which I still have. Used to hook a small record player to the sears amp for music at parties in the basement. Good times....

I have no idea. It had to have been cheap.
The guitar I plugged into it was an off-shoot from an es335. Probably some Japanese’s made copy. Also had to be cheap!
I do know it was Red. 😜

My first was a Kay tube amp with an 8" speaker. Sounded horrible and would shock the beejeezus out of you if you weren't careful. Probably worth a gizzilion $ now

Here is a perfect example of my first amp. I found this on Reverb and it caught my eye as it said it was in 'mint' condition. The seller wasn't lying. This amp is over 50 years old, I'm not sure I can get the exact year of when this one was built but, they made this model between '64 and '68. The Tolex cover is in immaculate condition sans a small 'scrap' on the backside of the speaker cabinet. Everything works and there are no unusual noises when operating. I'm going to pull the cover off the back of the cabinet and check out the speakers. From what I can see, they seem to be original as well. Outside of some of the tubes, everything is original. I think it is also 'hardwired'. This thing looks like it came to me in a time machine. Remember those well. Lot's of guys had one

Vox Pacemaker. 1968. Two-conductor power cord. I shocked myself whenever I held my guitar and touched anything else electrical. There was a switch in the back that was supposed to keep this from happening, but I suppose I always had it in the wrong position.
I don't miss it.

My first band was late 1964, like the last week of 64, I got the Framus Bass for Christmas, before new years I started playing with Tom, his dad was Commander at Wiesbaden AFB in Germany. For the years I played in Germany I used the Drummer’s Dad’s Gibson Bass amp. I didn’t get my own amp until 1969, my 16th birthday, dad got me the Fender Bassman 2/12. It got stolen, in pieces, the amp first then the cabinet.

Well,I finally remembered my first amp, it was a Guyatone 15 watt with a 10" speaker. It had 2 EL84's and 2 12ax7's, plus tremolo. We were in Germany about 1965 and my dad bought it at the PX, along with a Framus 335 type of guitar. I had both of these until about 1968 and started playing in a band. After we got better, my neighbor thought we were good and gave me an old Twin Reverb and also started helping us to get some places to play. We played a few local bars and then we got invited to play at the race track in Sacramento. It's kinda funny how I got into the band because I heard a few guys jamming and said I can play better than that and all of a sudden, I had to prove myself. Boy, I really stuck my neck out but pulled it off and then it was like 'magic', the songs came quickly to me and I learned a lot and we just grew from there. My friends knew that I played a little but I was crapping my pants when I got put to the test! Lucky, yeah I'll say, but fun we had for about 2 years then I moved away. It wasn't until high school that I met with some fellas and started playing again. Yeah I lied about being able to play better than the band I saw, but that lie made me grow up fast and the love of music really took over me and now I'm just a bedroom jammer due to Covid and all of our casinos that we played at aren't having us or any other local bands play now! I truly miss the fellas and playing music. March 2020 was our last gig. Boo hoo...

First I every used was a Standel 2 x 12. But wasn't mine. Didn't play electric again for a couple of years and when I picked back up a Silver Face early 70's Fender Champ. Eventually sold to a Harp player who loved it.

Fender VibroChamp. My 2nd amp was a 100 watt Crate with the wood sides and an EV speaker. CR-100 EV, I think. It kicked @$$. Probably the best sounding SS guitar amp I've ever heard.

Late sixties Ampeg Gemini VI, which was the single channel version of the Gemini II. fifteen inch speaker. about 30 watts. Sounded good for the style of music we played. Animals, Stones etc.
Wholenote, we had two of those Sivertones jumped together for our PA system. It worked well, loud and clear.

My 1st amp was a small, 1-speaker Boss, I wanna say 10Watt, I don't even remember. I still have it and use it as a spare 'speaker' for experimenting.
The 2nd amp is still my practice amp today - Peavey Envoy 110. Solid amp, just had it repaired & restored.
Main amps are:
- Peavey 6505+ - EVH 5150 (3)
with a
Peavey 6505 4 x 12 cab

First amp was a Fender Champ. First electric was a Gibson “The Paul” purchased at the same time. My parents bought them for me, keeping their promise to by me an electric if I stuck with guitar lessons for a year.

flic.kr/p/2oghNUmMy first ampFlickr is playing up. This was a UK made solid state amp. 20 watts. When looking for an image I was shocked to see that it was now considered ’vintage’. A ‘vintage’ POS.

My first was a Silvertone 1400 series combo tube model and I recall it had either a 10 or 12" speaker. I wish I still had it. Then I moved to a blackface Fender Bassman head with a 2-12" cab. I can't believe what those are worth today. They used to question why I was using a bass amp on guitar...not the consensus of opinion now!
