That’s a beautifully performed version. I have always enjoyed Casady’s work. I have to admit that sometimes I don’t understand it.

Jack can do very little wrong.
And as far as "not getting Jack", he probably doesn't get it himself out of the moment sometimes.
I'm reminded of the story of him and Jorma shooting into a Holiday Inn pool to watch the bullets travel through water while high as kites with the Airplane.

I attended a weekend workshop at Fur Peace with Jack about 10 years ago. He explained that when was a kid his dad was the national president of the jazz appreciation society and he had an enormous LP collection of the Jazz greats. But when he was coming up he admired the Motown sound but was drawn to a more melodic approach. He began working in the symphony in DC and in clubs in DC when he was still underage. He started with a huge vocabulary and he was able to make all those things connect. He drives the song but he's all about the melody line.
