My hearing isn't what it used to be. For a long while, a compressor and a 10-band EQ were the only things on my pedal board. Now I've put a Darkglass Vintage Micro Tubes (mild) overdrive and Hartke pre-amp/"tone-shaper"/DI back on there because I all of a sudden like what they do again.
Seems like I can play the same bass through the same pedals through the same amp with the same settings one day and it sounds different (better or worse) to me the next day.
What the hey...
Seems like I'm either losing my mind or my hearing is really undergoing some serious deterioration.
Rather disconcerting.

For me, when I play the same bass/amp/eq settings over a period of time the sound becomes stale. Not bad, but I think my ears become saturated and I lose enthusiasm for the sound and I'll switch to something else. It's a cycle, what was dull before now sounds fresh and new.

You're probably right: that could be all it is. Funny how that works. 'Course, in my case, it could just as likely be the playing that gets stale...

What I read is, “blah blah blah… and now I have more pedals.”
I’m not seeing a problem. 🤔🤣

Same here. Gotta use an 'enhancer' to hear what I wanna hear more often than not. But can be tricked by gradually readjusting the knobs until close to the original signal is making it alright again. Entertaining to watch revealing the waning mental capacities at work..

Well, I like to feel the vibration if that means anything. Pant legs flapping. Sorry, peeps in the front row.
