The story flows as easily as water down a slope.

One of my favorite actors -- where did you see it?

We saw it awhile back. It's a good'n. Have you seen "Assassination Tango"? Another, pretty strange one, in which he stars. He is apparently actually a tango fanatic in real life.

"There's alive and there's dead, and there's a place in between I hope you never know nothing about."
Duvall is one of my absolute favorites. Godfather, The Great Santini, The Apostle, Tender Mercies, Lonesome Dove, just about everything I can remember seeing him in he's been great.

Robert Duvall is a fine actor. I remember seeing "Get Low" a few years ago. A rather whimsical treat if I recall correctly. "Assassination Tango" would appear to be a passion project of his. I have not seen it, but now my interest is peaked and I'll keep an eye out for it.

Get low, I remember seeing it and thought it was good, but for the life of me could not tell you what it is about without google.

I looked this up -- it seems I watched this in the past year or two. I recall liking it. No longer free on Amazon.
I searched Netflix for "Robert Duvall" -- it returned "Robert Duvall Not Available". How is this even possible? I just canceled my Netflix account -- they have been abject crap for years. This was the last straw.

I would have no problem binge watching Lonesome Dove. I think his finest work is in "The Apostle". But if somebody wants to argue Godfather we won't be fighting.

Then again, not every role was a gem. Was a time he just needed to take what came in order to put bread on the table:

Watched a Duvall flick called 7 Days in Utopia the other night. Wow, was that bad. He must have owed someone a favor.

I would have no problem binge watching Lonesome Dove. I'm in the middle of it right now thanks to this thread.

He was great in Apocalypse Now. Had the most quoted line in the whole movie.

Watched Tender Mercies last night.
One of those low key films that just keeps you watching.

Here is one of his lesser-known, early films. It was the second movie in which I saw him, after I'd seen "To Kill a Mockingbird":
Duvall based Jackson Fentry's unusual accent on a man he met once while walking the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. He was so struck by the man's deep-voiced accent, he never forgot it. He has said that this film is one of his personal favorites among those in which he has acted. It is based on a William Faulkner short story.

Watched The Godfather for the first time last night.
Took a little while realise it was Duval playing one of the characters but again he was one of the standout characters in the film.

In Tender Mercies I heard my grandfather's voice and phrasing coming from the screen. Duval always got Southerners right. And as someone raised in Southern Baptist Churches, The Apostle had a ring of authenticity that still amazes me.
