Just currious what tubes came in Black face pro reverbs. I have 6L6 GC's in myine but they are rated to 30 watts each giving 60 watts total but the amp is rated 40 watts. what did they come with?

The output power of the amp doesn't awlays use the full technical capacity of the tubes themselves.
Those pair of 6L6s gives 50 watts in a Bassman head, as an example.
It's all about circuit design, output transformer, etc past the capacity of the tubes themselves.

They came mostly with RCA 6L6 GC’s. RCA 12AX7’s with one 12AT7 in the inverter position. They were blackplates early on and grayplates later.

Yes... the 6L6GC RCA Black plate.
Been so long since I heard a decent set of those... The absence of hearing those... really has me out to lunch on the "if...." Nos tubes were really better than the top tubes of today.
I've gotten what I think are great results rolling modern tubes... but without a reference to a decent set of NOS RCA's IDK?

I'm VERY happy with the Tung Sol reissues honestly.
I have one set of blackplates that sound good but can be bitchy (which is why I removed them from my long-gone BF Bassman head while gigging in the stone age)- the Tung Sols get me in teh ballpark.
I am NOT a fan of the JJ stuff for Fenders, never have been.

I know the op asked for modern tubes but I only use NOS tubes for 2 reasons. They sound better and last way longer. The longer life and peace of mind of being less likely to fail on a gig is worth the extra cost. I think I've only had 1 power tube fail me in over 35 yrs of gigging.

power tubes in class A/B amps like your BFPR are only biased to 60-70% of their max power rating, so 36-42W out of a pair of 6L6GCs.

The reality is that there’s no relationship between idle anode dissipation and signal output power. An amp’s signal power output is determined by the HT voltage and the OT primary impedance. Bias affects signal linearity, gain and valve life. The HT supply in the Pro Reverb is probably a bit lower and a bit saggier than, say, a Super Reverb or Bassman. Plus its OT is smaller and possibly a little lossier than those of the latter models. OT impedance is typically around 4k for all such 2x6L6 models though.
