Anyone into Fuzz?
It's Subjective and everyone has different taste.. Myself being musical anachronistic.
Very few pedals sound as divine as Fuzz does through the Fenders amps I play. (something about a Fender tone stack and Fuzz... like mozzarella and peperoni!) I'm Not into compression... & I don't play modern metal.
Very few Overdrive or Distortion pedals clean up like a classic Fuzz pedal does when you roll back the volume. I tap it on and go to work using the guitar's volume knob. Basically forget about... let's my playing come out. I just have not discovered an Overdrive or Distortion pedal that has the complexity that a good fuzz has (one can hear the detail of the chords even 7ths and 9ths... and 6ths well... I love harmonic detail a fuzz does.
I like both Silicon and Germanium Fuzz. (that's when I knew I was into fuzz lol)
The sonic timbre is so huge with Fuzz..

I have pedals custom-built to my specs. One is what is effectively a signature monster, done in a run recently of 50ish for dedicated nutcases. It is a sonic destroyer that does absolutely unholy things (and can make *NO* sound at certain settings too, there's no idiot protect) along with relatively sedate lower-gain things. I also keep around several dozen other flavors, from germanium things that are vintage-correct and quite good (I have an EE friend who is VERy good at circuit design and his ears are impeccable for picking good germanium and matching).

I've got an old blue Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, an early Boss OD-1 ( the really sought after one) and a Dunlop JH-3S Hendrix System octave fuzz, (a VERY underrated/overlooked stomp box IMHO).
Hell, sometimes I'll even daisy chain them for more fuzz fun.

I've been playing since 1975 and I've never owned a fuzz. I don't know why...I don't dislike the effect and I've been in bands that played covers of tunes that featured it. I'm a huge Hendrix fan too.
I've never really needed it, I guess. Probably because I can get close enough with a distorto-pedal and the controls on the guitar, I think.

I love my fuzz(es). Pedal of the day is a JHS mini.

I’ve taken a real liking to it and have picked up two bender-style ones this year.
Not practical. But a whole lot of fun.

I like Fuzz face types, silicon and germanium, and Big Muffs.
I've never played a tonebender, but I like early Jimmy Page and Mick Ronson tones so I'd probably like that too.

I'm another who has never had a fuzz. There are times I think I want one but I have one guitar with a built-in buffer which won't work nicely with the low input impedance of the vintage designs and that narrows my choices significantly. Maybe one day.

I owned a couple of Maestro fuzzboxes in the '60s. Absolutely great with a tremolo for the Electric Prunes.
Circa 1970 I had a Fuzzface which I used ton play stuff like "Spirit in the Sky", when that song lost popularity on the club circuit, the Fuzzface was traded away.
Tried a fuzz about 20 years ago, returned it the next day.

Fuzz fan here
I've got an original green Russian Big Muff, a red Fuzz Face from the early 80s, and a new JHS Bender, that is supposed to be a clone of the Mk III Tone Bender (I think, or maybe Mk II)
They are all great in their own way!

I'd like to get a vintage 1970's MXR Distortion Plus, my bro had one back in the day and I kinda liked it, especially teamed up with the MXR Phase 90.

My first pedal was a Univox Super Fuzz (circa 1965, so I could play "Satisfaction"). Wish I still had it! Now I'm liking the EHX Flatiron Fuzz.

I've never owned nor recall playing a fuzz but I like it when others utilize it.

I have used a Fuzz and a cry baby for a long time. They are the first pedals I buy along with a tuner. I came a cross a Fuzz Wah Wah made by EHX called C0CK FIGHT and that is what I use now. I can get alot of different sounds from it with its Q control and the fuzz tone control and a Bias control

Every Good Boy Deserves Fuzz
I have an Ibanez FZ-7 that makes your amp sound like there’s something wrong with it. Glorious!
I bought it used for 8 dollars💪🏼

I had posted a new thread on this, then decided maybe it fit in right here with this thread.
Sooo, here it is.
I have a one of these Danelectro *Fab Tone* pedals on the string so to speak.
Does anyone have experience with this?
There is more to this deal than just how desirable pedal might be to the average player.
Seems like some serious Distortion.

I've used one since they came out in the mid 90s. It bumped the HM-2 off my board at the time for live use, it just did MORE.
It's not subtle, it's not a fuzz, but it's one hell of a high gain thing with hair.
I was always afraid of the little knobs dying, but I haven't killed them despite utter lack of care for two decades running now.

Thanks Rob.
The pedal (and possibly a little more stuff) is coming from the equipment owned by my Nephew who died unexpectedly in June at the age of 42. He was not a full time professional musician by trade, but was always in some fairly serious bands in So Cal for his entire life.
Anything I get will serve as memories to Steve even more so than their actual usefulness and music equipment.

IIRC the Fab Tone was the pedal that put the “new” Danelectro on the map.

I have the Daddy O (that's a Marshall Governor clone) that a fan game me years ago. It's not bad, but ...at the time, the Fab Tone filled niches that Metal Zone wasn't hitting and then some.

After all these years I finally broke down and bought a fuzz pedal. Ramble FX Twin Bender. It is awesome and a lot of fun. Does a couple of types of fuzz and didn't cost too much (under $200). Now when I play a Hendrix, Cream, Stones, Yardbirds, Trower, etc. song it sounds more authentic.
Next pedal I've been living without: Octavia!
