Brother I don’t even know what to say. We will be praying for you and your family. Hospice workers are a great help. You’ve been a great help to so many people. Godspeed.

Jhawkr , just saw this and havent had a chance to chime in. Dont know what to say but hope you get past this with a minimum of suffering and a maximum dose of family love. Loved your wise input and output over the years. Family is the best thing at times like this. Fight if you want. Dont fight if you dont want to. Better living thru chemistry was an old advert but its true. Best wishes to you.

I went back and re-read jhawkr's posts. I was reminded that bile duct cancer was the diagnosis.
Not to be Debbie Downer, but I had a friend just recently diagnosed with bile duct cancer. He was placed in hospice and went quickly. His funeral is tomorrow.
But I certainly hope jhawkr is still hanging in there.

My sense of jhawkr is that he is a very well organized and prepared person. His career was certainly based on those qualities, and his posts through the years about his activities, home, and musical interests reflected the same. So in this thread it has been clear that he has proceeded in a methodical and pragmatic matter, so I expect that the FDP is part of his to-do list, when time and circumstance warrants. We should all have our sh*t together the way he has.
Peace & grace brother, peace & grace.

Have never met jhawkr in person, but have always admired his courageous stoicism in the face of health issues. I recall him posting back on FDP about some serious stuff he was facing 3 or so years ago. Never a "why me" type of thing: more of an informational post in case it might be helpful to someone else, perhaps experiencing similar symptoms.
An indicator of a real quality character trait, in my book.
Prayers, indeed.

I did a check of the obits on the Wichita Eagle website and found nothing that would match the description of the OP.

Well, the picture in the obituary is Jim, so now we know. RIP, Jim. Prayers for your family.
Just today I felt the need to make another attempt to try to find someone to contact concerning Jim. His name was so common (James Smith), and not knowing his exact age, and knowing the area of Wichita he lived in, but not his address, I was not able to find what appeared to be an Internet match. I think I checked obituaries last week, but I guess I was premature. I was considering stopping by his old employer to see if I could get any information, even though realizing that legally, they probably couldn't give me any information.
We'll be missing a really nice guy. help yourself to a round of Duff's on me.

Thanks for all the years in this virtual community jhawkr. And thank you for the lesson in bravery and dignity for a chapter we'll all someday experience. Godspeed Jim.
