Anyone ever done some binding on F holes ?
It doesnt have to the fair dinkum stuff just something that looks like binding.
I have a cheap, thinline electric that I am mucking around with, making cosmetic changes to and am wondering if binding the F-hole would look good.
I was thinking of using tape of some sort as a trial or even painting the "side wall" of the F-hole to see what it would look like.
Any suggestions ?

Bound F holes are usually carved out oversized to account for the change in size of the hole, so if it was designed without binding it might be too cramped. Definitely do dry runs to see if it is even possible, there might not be enough room.

If you decide to use binding. make up a box full of small wooden tapered wedges to se as clamping devices to apply transverse pressure across the air gap in the F hole to hold the binding in place as the adhesive cures. If you use CA, don't use accelerator on it because it can turn white and foamy and the results look pretty crappy.
Another dead-easy way to hold binding in an F hole is wooden clothes pins. The ends of the 'handle' portion are the clamp, because they create that outward force by spring tension.

Binding is a great adventure. Watch a few videos, read some articles,… feel perky, give it a try. Its not rocket surgery. I like true celluloid because of how well it glues in place and how easy it is to make invisible seams — but its sometimes difficult to obtain and it catches fire.
