Peter Frampton getting back his beloved Les Paul after losing it in a plane crash was a great story. Here's another one: Randy Bachman's Gretsch gets lifted from his room at a Holday Inn 45 years ago, and a pal who used facial recognition software to look for a specific wood grain pattern found the guitar in a YooToob video. Incredible! www.guitarworld.com/news/randy-bachman-stolen-gretsch

Very cool. Let's hope this doesn't send Randy on an obsessive Gretsch buying spree again.
Oh, I have those DeArmond 2000 pickups in my Hofner Ambassador and like them very much.

I cannot imagine how it feels to be reunited with a possession that's been lost for 45 years.

Hmmm...a famous musician contacts you and informs you that you own his (stolen) guitar and you stipulate the terms of return? Am I the only person that finds that a bit unsavory? I would have politely asked that he pay for shipping and hoped that he'd be kind enough to offer a replacement. I hope that a more thorough retelling of the transaction would make things look better...

You know $400 was a boatload of money back then I might suggest $30,400.00 is a boat load of money today. I guess it gets pretty expensive when you have to keep buying your own stuff over 45 years.

That's really cool. As good a story as the Frampton's Black Beauty.

I would have politely asked that he pay for shipping and hoped that he'd be kind enough to offer a replacement. He did. It's in the article. Randy's always been a "man-up" kinda cat.

Yes indeed. He even mentioned the replacement costing him $30,000.00. Ooops ... I'll now be forced to beg for retroactive consent. "Any rebroadcast, reproduction, or other use of the pictures and accounts of this post without the express written consent of Major League Goofball is prohibited."

How lucky that the guitar was played in a video, and not just kept in a case in someone's closet!
