Here's mine. The bench itself is one of those adjustable height benches (Husky, I think) from HD.
That's my guitar mat *AND* my supervisor and inspirational spirit-animal.

This is my main bench. I covered it with a steel top I had made for ot because i do lots of mechanical work and I didn't want heavy steel engines and such to scratch it up. The steel also protects it from oil. I made it from 2X12's and used 4X4's for the legs. i.postimg.cc/tT3ZTnxk/Bench-Top.jpg |

Disclaimer: I realized after the fact that I got a bit carried away on this beyond "guitar tech" I apologize for the distraction.  Mine has some variables. It is actually a cabinet I took home from a retail store I worked in back in the 80s. I modified it to mount my table saw (yes that table saw). Serves as table saw, work bench and storage cabinet ... on casters.  Table Saw work bench by Larry Madsen, on Flickr I later made this top to mount above the table saw. Providing me a higher work surface and larger top. I'm not working with wood every day, so this is the configuration in place most of the time. I installed a ton of lighting above this area as well. Total of ten LED lights. Seven are stationary recessed fixtures in the ceiling and three are (aimable) flood lights. It's covered in leather so soldering does not affect it and it never collects debris to scratch guitar bodies. It holds any guitar snugly in place, face up or face down. Also that fact that it floats in mid air like this makes it particularly handy  guitar work station by Larry Madsen, on Flickr This is a little portable rotisserie I made for painting guitar bodies. The red box is loaded with heavy steel plates and tile grout to make it heavy enough to anchor/balance a guitar body. I have five workbenches, not counting my steel welding table. Four are on wheels so I can move 'em around, and they're all the same height so I can put them together to do large builds. This is really the only way to have max flexibility in a really small shop like my one-car garage. I am out of room for anything else   |

That is one highly-evolved workspace!
I do have another workbench that also sports my drill press and vice. It’s a cool old bench that Mrs. Leftee’s dad built many years ago.
